Job summary

PeopleStrong seeks an Instrumentation & Automation Engineer to design and detail control systems for steel plants, mining facilities, coal handling, and bulk material handling projects. You will specify field instruments, I/O, and control philosophies, and support FAT/SAT and commissioning.

You will review instrument datasheets, prepare technical specifications, and ensure compliance with IEC/ISA standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–15 years of relevant experience in Instrumentation & Automation Engineering for industrial plants (steel, mining, CHP, RMHS).
• Knowledge of field instrumentation, control systems, industrial networks, PLC/DCS, and plant automation.
• Familiarity with IEC/ISA/IS/NEC and other standards; experience in consultancy, design centres, or EPC projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and detailed engineering of instrumentation, control, and automation systems for industrial and process plants.
• Develop and review Instrument Index, I/O List, I/O Calculations, Datasheets, Specifications, and Control Philosophies.
• Size and select field instruments (pressure, flow, level, temperature), valves, analyzers, gas detection, and belt weighing systems.
• Perform UPS sizing calculations and ensure safe, reliable, efficient plant operations.
• Prepare technical specs, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations for instrumentation packages.
• Review vendor documents, software architecture, network layouts, and PLC/DCS configuration for compliance with project requirements.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting, and plant performance testing.
• Exposure to telecommunications systems including CCTV, PA, and telephone systems.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities:

• Basic and Detailed engineering of Instrumentation, Control, and Automation Systems for industrial and process plants, including steel plants, mining facilities, coal handling plants (CHP), raw material handling systems (RMHS), ports, and bulk material handling installations.
• Expertise in field instrumentation, control systems, industrial networks, PLC/DCS systems, and plant automation to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
• Develop and review key engineering deliverables, including Instrument Index, I/O List and I/O Calculations, Instrument Datasheets, Instrument Specifications & Control Philosophies and Functional Design Specifications
• Carry out selection, sizing, and specification of field instruments, including Pressure, Flow, Level, and Temperature Instruments, Control Valves and On-Off Valves, Analyzers and Gas Detection Systems, Belt Weighing Systems, etc.
• Perform UPS sizing calculations and control system engineering to ensure process safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Preparetechnical specifications, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluation documents for instrumentation and automation packages.
• Reviewvendor documents, software architecture, network layouts, and PLC/DCS configuration documents for compliance with project requirements.
• Supportfactory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), commissioning, troubleshooting, and plant performance testing activities.
• Exposure to Telecommunications Systems including CCTV System, Public Address System, Telephone System

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:Full-timeMTech/BE/BTech/Diploma/ITIin Instrumentation/Electronics Engineering from a recognized university/institute.

Minimum years of experience & Industry Preference:

• 3-15 years of relevant experience in Instrumentation & Automation Engineering for Steel Plants, Mining Facilities, Coal and Raw Material Handling Systems, Ports, and Industrial Process Plants.
• Understanding of field instrumentation, control systems, industrial automation, and communication networks.
• Familiarity with IEC, ISA, IS, NEC, and other relevant national and international standards.
• Experience in engineering consultancy, design centres, or EPC organizations will be preferred.
