Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking an instrumentation engineer to support design and drawings for field instruments, cables, junction boxes, and control schematics in Chennai. The role focuses on datasheet preparation, wiring diagrams, and instrument location layouts, with strong emphasis on PLC I/O mapping and 3D model reviews.

The candidate will coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, Process, and Civil teams, review vendor documents, and support QA/FAT/SAT procedures for successful project execution.

Qualifications

• Preparation of instrumentation design documents and diagrams.
• Knowledge of PLC architecture and I/O mapping.
• Coordination with Electrical, Mechanical, Process and Civil teams.
• Exposure to 3D modeling of instrumentation systems.
• Vendor document review and FAT/SAT procedures.
• Instrument datasheets and field instruments familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of Datasheets for field instruments, cables, and related hardware.
• Prepare and review Instrument Index, I/O list, cable schedule and junction box schedule.
• Create wiring, termination, instrument hook-up, location, and Earthing drawings.
• Develop control schematics, logic diagrams, and loop diagrams for instrumentation systems.
• Coordinate inter-discipline interfaces and external stakeholders.

Job description

• Preparation of Datasheets for Field instruments, special instruments, JB, Cables, Trays, Instrument fittings etc.
• Preparation of Instrument Index, I/O list, cable schedule, Junction box schedule, wiring diagram, termination diagram, Instrument Hook-up drawing, Instrument location drawing, Earthing layouts, Control schematic diagram, logic diagram and Loop diagram, Instrument installation diagram.
• Preparation of Design basis and Control philosophy for various instrumentation process system and packages/skids
• Sizing of control valve, Safety valve, flow element such as orifice & annubar. Wake frequency calculations for TW in SPI/IN tools/ Instrucalc
• Review and preparation of material requisition/RFQ, vendor offer evaluation, technical bid analysis (TBA).
• Review of vendor documents such as instrument datasheet, Panel wiring & Panel General Arrangement drawings, Power calculation, Earthing drawings
• Preparation and review of PLC Architecture, I/O mapping, review of PLC panel wiring & GA drawings and HMI & SCADA graphics
• Co-ordination with inter disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, Process and Civil for instrumentation interfaces.
• Co-ordination with external stakeholders such as vendors, clients & consultant
• Knowledge in review of quality inspection, QA documents, FAT/SAT procedures.
• Exposure on review of instrumentation system in 3D model software
