Job summary

Reliance Industries Limited, Battery Business, seeks a Section Head - Instrument Reliability in Jamnagar to lead the instrumentation team, plan shutdowns, and manage budgets while driving automation and reliability improvements.

The role requires expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA, SIS, and field instrumentation, with a track record in project execution, commissioning, and RCA-driven improvements. Knowledge of SAP PM/MMCS is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Be / B.Tech in Instrumentation (minimum)
• Experience leading instrumentation teams and budgets is preferred

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance to standards, procedures and best practices.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of field instruments, PLC, DCS, SCADA, MCMS, F&G analysers, and control valves/Field instrument.
• Lead the Instrumentation Department and manage engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
• Plan and execute shutdowns, turnarounds, and commissioning activities.
• Prepare Plant budgets and control maintenance costs. Manage optimum Instrumentation maintenance cost and budgeting.
• Develop preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies for instrumentation and control systems.
• Drive automation improvements, digitalization, and reliability enhancement initiatives.
• Experience in project execution, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Participation in PSSR and its compliance, ensure statutory compliance are done before commissioning
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, statutory requirements, and quality management systems.
• Coordinate with Production, Mechanical, Electrical, Projects, and Procurement departments.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor KPIs such as equipment availability, MTBF, MTTR, calibration compliance, and maintenance backlog.
• Coordination & support Turnaround and shutdown and execution to all plant.
• Support operation team during commissioning
• Familiarity with SAP PM/MMCS maintenance systems.
• Manage calibration programs for all critical instruments and ensure compliance with standards.
• Develop team competency through training and performance management.
• Expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA, SIS, field instrumentation, analysers, and control valves.
• Knowledge of HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus, and industrial Ethernet.
• VED analysis validation and ensure PM and CM plans are in place in all plant.
• Level-2 HITRA preparation and finalization
• SMP validation and Ensure CAS compliance
• Contractor manpower planning and JMS entry/authorisation certification)
• Review engineering documents such as P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, cable schedules, and control philosophies.
• Strong understanding of IEC, ISA, and other applicable standards.
