Job summary

Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited in Vadodara seeks an Instrumentation Engineer to oversee maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of plant instrumentation across manufacturing, packaging, and utility areas.

You will lead PLC, SCADA, HMI, and field instruments troubleshooting; coordinate with vendors; supervise shifts; ensure GMP and data integrity; and drive documentation in SAP and QMS.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering.
• Experience with GMP, data integrity preferred.
• Ability to supervise and mentor technicians and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of instrumentation systems across manufacturing, packaging, and utility areas.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure maximum uptime of critical process instruments and control systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, HMI, sensors, transmitters, and field instruments; support process control improvements.
• Coordinate with automation vendors and OEMs for maintenance and technical support.
• Supervise instrumentation activities during shifts and guide technicians on troubleshooting and maintenance practices.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with vendors, contractors, and user departments; review service reports.
• Support AMC execution and project-related activities.
• Maintain GMP compliance, data integrity, and 21 CFR Part 11 when applicable.

Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation Maintenance & Reliability

• Ensure efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of instrumentation systems across manufacturing, packaging, and utility areas.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure maximum uptime of critical process instruments and control systems.

PLC, SCADA & Automation Support

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC, SCADA, HMI, sensors, transmitters, control valves, and field instruments.
• Support automation systems and process control improvements.
• Coordinate with automation vendors and OEMs for system maintenance and technical support.

Team & Shift Management

• Supervise instrumentation activities during shifts and ensure timely completion of maintenance work.
• Guide and mentor technicians and engineers on troubleshooting and maintenance practices.
• Ensure proper resource allocation and shift handover compliance.

Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate maintenance activities with vendors, contractors, and user departments.
• Review service reports and ensure timely closure of maintenance activities.
• Support execution of annual maintenance contracts (AMC) and project-related activities.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, Data Integrity, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation as per quality procedures.
• Participate in internal audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Ensure adherence to 21 CFR Part 11 and computerized system compliance requirements.

SAP & Documentation

• Utilize SAP for maintenance planning, work order execution, history tracking, and reporting.
• Work effectively within QMS systems for change controls, deviations, CAPA, and maintenance documentation.
• Generate and review maintenance performance reports and KPIs.
