Job summary

Euroaqua Plumtek in Chennai, India, seeks an experienced Production Manager to lead daily injection moulding operations. You will plan, monitor, and optimize production, coordinate with PPC, Quality, and Maintenance, and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience as Assistant Production Manager / 8–12 years as Production Manager.
• Experience in planning, control and monitoring of daily production.
• Strong knowledge of injection moulding processes, machines and materials.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and monitor daily production activities.
• Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
• Optimize machine and manpower utilization for production
• Monitor output, machine efficiency, cycle time and downtime.
• Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores and other departments.
• Ensure timely completion of production schedules.
• Handle machine setting, mould setting, changeovers, and process parameter setting.
• Troubleshoot moulding defects and ensure process stability.
• Maintain quality records and production documentation.
• Train and develop production staff.
• Improve OEE and machine utilization; reduce waste and costs.
• Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance and mould maintenance.
• Ensure safety & housekeeping compliance.

Experience:

• Assistant Production Manager: 5-8 Years
• Production Manager: 8-12 Years

1. Production Planning & Control

• Plan, execute, and monitor daily production activities.
• Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
• Ensure optimum utilization of injection moulding machines and manpower.
• Monitor production output, machine efficiency, cycle time, and downtime.
• Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and other departments.
• Ensure timely completion of production schedules.

2. Injection Moulding Process Management

• Strong knowledge of injection moulding machines, moulds, and plastic processing.
• Handle machine setting, mould setting, mould changeover, and process parameter setting.
• Optimize injection pressure, holding pressure, temperature, injection speed, and cooling time.
• Troubleshoot moulding defects such as flash, short moulding, sink marks, warpage, burn marks, black spots, and dimensional variations.
• Ensure proper machine start-up, process stabilization, and smooth changeovers.
• Knowledge of different plastic materials such as PP, ABS, PC, PA, POM, and other engineering plastics.

3. Quality & Rejection Control

• Ensure production as per approved quality standards and customer specifications.
• Monitor and reduce rejection, rework, and scrap.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with the Quality Department to resolve process-related quality issues.
• Maintain process control records and production documentation.

4. Manpower Management

• Manage production supervisors, shift in-charges, machine setters, operators, and helpers.
• Allocate manpower according to production requirements.
• Monitor employee performance and productivity.
• Train and develop production employees.
• Ensure proper shift handover and effective communication.

5. Productivity & Cost Improvement

• Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and machine utilization.
• Reduce cycle time, rejection, scrap, and machine downtime.
• Implement Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
• Minimize raw material wastage and manufacturing costs.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and productivity improvement.

6. Machine & Mould Maintenance Coordination

• Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Ensure proper maintenance of machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Coordinate with the tool room for mould maintenance and repair.
• Minimize machine and mould-related downtime.

7. Safety & Housekeeping

• Ensure implementation of 5S and housekeeping standards.
• Maintain safety standards in the production department.
• Ensure employees follow machine operating and safety procedures.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of plastic injection moulding processes.
• Hands-on experience in machine and mould setting.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electric, and servo injection moulding machines.
• Knowledge of plastic raw materials and processing parameters.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of OEE, cycle time optimization, rejection analysis, and production planning.
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and production reporting.
