Job description

Position: Mould Manufacturing Process Planning & Control (PPC)

Department: Tool room / Mould Manufacturing
Experience: 10 Years
Qualification: Diploma Tool & Die Making, or equivalent

Job Purpose

To plan, schedule, coordinate, and control all mould manufacturing activities from raw material procurement to final mould assembly and trial readiness. The role is responsible for developing manufacturing process plans, estimating operation-wise manufacturing hours, monitoring machine loading and resource utilization, controlling project timelines, and ensuring moulds are completed within the planned delivery schedule, quality standards, and manufacturing cost targets.

. Key Responsibilities

A. Mould Manufacturing Process Planning:

• Study mould designs, 2D drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Prepare detailed, operation-wise manufacturing process plans for all mould components.
• Establish manufacturing sequences covering raw material preparation, rough machining, heat treatment, CNC/VMC machining, grinding, EDM, wire cutting, deburring, finishing, and assembly, as applicable.
• Identify in-house manufacturing operations and processes requiring external subcontracting.
• Ensure process plans comply with drawing requirements, material specifications, tolerances, Estimate operation-wise manufacturing hours for each mould component.
• Prepare mould-wise manufacturing schedules with planned start and completion dates for every operation.
• Develop project timelines and Gantt charts based on machine capacity, manpower availability, and delivery commitments.
• Establish planned versus actual manufacturing hours for each operation.
• Coordinate with the design and CAM programming teams to ensure timely release of manufacturing drawings, CNC programs, and process documents.
• Monitor daily manufacturing activities against the approved production plan.
• Track the progress of every mould project from raw material readiness to final assembly and trial readiness.
• Maintain a mould-wise manufacturing tracker covering operation status, planned dates, actual dates, estimated hours, actual hours, pending activities.
• Coordinate with Conversion, CNC/VMC, grinding, polishing, and mould assembly teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Conduct regular progress reviews with relevant teams and escalates delays that may affect project completion.
• Ensure that priority components are completed according to the mould assembly schedule.
• Monitor machining rework, component rejection, material wastage, and manufacturing cost variances.

B. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with Design, CAM Programming, CNC/VMC Machining, Grinding, Toolroom Assembly, Quality, Purchase.
• Follow up on raw materials, standard mould components, cutting tools, and subcontracted operations.
• Ensure timely resolution of drawing discrepancies and manufacturing issues.
• Provide daily and weekly mould manufacturing progress reports to management.

C. Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of plastic injection mould, PET preform, ISBM, EBM, HDPE Moulds manufacturing processes.
• Experience in manufacturing process planning, production planning, and production control.
• Ability to understand 2D engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and GD&T.
• Knowledge of CNC/VMC machining, grinding, EDM, wire EDM, polishing, and mould assembly.
• Understanding of mould steel grades, material properties, heat treatment, and surface treatment processes.
• Experience in manufacturing time estimation and operation-wise cost analysis.
• Proficiency in English, Microsoft Excel, production trackers, Gantt charts, and reporting tools.
• Ability to analyse machine capacity, manpower utilization, bottlenecks, and manufacturing lead times.

D. Preferred Industry Experience

• PET preform injection mould manufacturing.
• High-cavitation injection moulds and precision mould components.
• ISBM moulds and blow mould manufacturing.
• Caps and closures moulds.
• Tool room operations involving CNC/VMC machining, grinding, EDM, heat treatment, finishing, and assembly.
