Job summary

Purview Services is seeking an experienced IBM i Systems Administrator to manage the IBM i infrastructure across LPARs, BRMS, PTFs, and firmware coordination. You will own end-to-end platform operations and runbooks for 24x7 support.

You will handle security hardening, storage management, DR readiness, job/queue control, IPL planning, and proactive monitoring, with strong TCP/IP networking and vendor coordination. Prior banking-domain exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• IBM i Administrator with extensive experience (60-120 months) in IT infrastructure.
• Strong command of IBM i OS, CLLE, RPGLE, HMC, and TCP/IP.
• Experience in performance management, security hardening, BRMS, and DR readiness.
• Proven production support, including job/queue management and subsystem tuning.
• Hands-on with IPL planning, storage management, and high-availability setups.
• Excellent crisis management during P1/P2 incidents and RCA.
• Ability to mentor Production Support teams and produce runbooks.
• Willingness to work 24x7 shifts and on-call rotations; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage IBM i infrastructure end-to-end across LPARs, PTFs, and firmware coordination.
• Administer OS, security, user profiles, auditing, and hardening compliance.
• Handle BRMS backups/restores, HA/DR readiness, and regular recovery testing.
• Perform system IPLs, manage spooling, and monitor performance/availability.
• Coordinate TCP/IP networking, DNS, FTP/SFTP, and middleware touchpoints.
• Lead runbooks for HA switchovers, validate results, and communicate with stakeholders.
• Provide crisis triage, vendor engagement, and RCA through problem management.
• Act as SME and mentor for Production Support; develop knowledge artifacts.
• Ensure smooth handovers during shift changes and maintain service continuity.

Role & responsibilities

• 60 to 120 Months of experience in IBM i IT Infrastructure


• Admin and troubleshooting Skills of IBMi Operating System.


• Operating System (general), Ops Navigator, BRMS, Good coding knowledge of CLLE, RPGLE, HMC & TCP/IP.


• Knowledge/Experience in IBM i Performance Management.


• Seasoned IBM i (AS/400) Administrator at GCB5-equivalent level, owning end-to-end platform operations across LPARs, PTFs, firmware coordination, and capacity/performance management.


• Strong hands-on skills in system configuration and security: user/profile management, authorities, auditing, object-level controls, and compliance-aligned hardening.


• Deep operational expertise in storage and availability: ASP/IASP management, BRMS backups/restores, HA/DR readiness, and regular recovery testing with clear RTO/RPO focus.


• Proven production support capability: job/queue management, subsystem tuning, spool/output control, IPL planning, and proactive monitoring to prevent incidents.


• Confident in IBM i networking and connectivity: TCP/IP, DNS, FTP/SFTP, certificates, and integration touchpoints with distributed platforms and middleware.


• Experienced in Role Swap activities (HA switchovers/failbacks), including runbook execution, validation checks, stakeholder comms, and post-activity stabilisation.


• Strong crisis handling during P1/P2 incidents: rapid triage, impact assessment, structured troubleshooting, vendor engagement, and disciplined problem management through to RCA.


• Acts as Technical SME and mentor to Production Support teamscoaching on diagnostics, best practices, and building reusable knowledge articles/runbooks.


• Comfortable working 24x7 shift schedules and on-call rotations, with a “get it done” mindset and clear handovers to maintain service continuity


• Third Party Tools: Power HA, Connect:DIRECT, OnDemand Report Archiving tool, iDoctor & PowerLock.


• Performing system IPL


• Knowledge of iASP.


• Knowledge on iCluster and troubleshooting on errors.


• Knowledge on WAS and MQ applications and provided basic trouble shooting.


• Installing PTF’s (Program Temporary Fixes), License Keys and Software Licensed Programs.


• Should be well versed with ITIL concepts and more specific understanding of Service operations activities.


• Worked in an infrastructure critical environment and understands how technology adds value to the business and ultimately the end customer.


• Ability to work effectively as a team player.


• Good Communication and interpersonal skills


• Banking domain experience will be added advantage.


• Experience with standard change, incident and problem management process.


• Willingness to work in 24x7x365 IBM i environment including on-call rotation, weekend work, etc.


• Must be able to perform well as a member of a larger team.


• Ability to establish mutual expectations with clients is required. Ensuring that the processes are adhered to.


• Excellent oral and written communication skills (English) are critical for success in this job.


• Must be motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks.
