Job summary

Arasappa Jewellers is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee the complete employee lifecycle for their luxury jewellery retail store in Tamil Nadu. The role focuses on staffing operations, regulatory compliance, and building a motivated sales and support team.

You will handle recruitment, onboarding, payroll, compliance, training, and employee relations to ensure smooth operations during peak wedding seasons and festivals.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years HR experience in Retail, Gems & Jewellery, or Hospitality.
• Graduate (BBA/B.Com/BA) required; MBA/PGDM in HR or Retail Management preferred.
• Hands-on PF/ESI compliance, payroll processing, and shift scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Source, interview, and hire floor sales staff, billing counter staff, security personnel, goldsmiths/karigars, and support teams.
• Oversee daily attendance, shift planning, rotational offs, overtime, and seasonal staffing during peak seasons.
• Process monthly salaries, sales incentives, and statutory compliance (PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Shops & Establishment Act, Gratuity).
• Implement retail SOPs, cash/stock handling, vault access rules, and security guidelines.
• Organize training covering product knowledge, soft skills, upselling, and safety protocols.
• Manage performance appraisals, incentive structures, grievance handling, and exit formalities.
• Coordinate with external security agencies for guard deployment and oversee admin needs like uniforms and ID cards.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruitment & Onboarding: Source, interview, and hire floor sales staff, billing counter staff, security personnel, goldsmiths/karigars, and support teams. Conduct rigorous background checks and trade tests for specialized technical roles.
• Workforce & Shift Management: Oversee daily attendance, shift planning, rotational offs, overtime, and seasonal staffing requirements during peak festival and wedding seasons.
• Payroll & Statutory Compliance: Process monthly salaries, sales incentives, and statutory compliances (PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Shops & Establishment Act, Gratuity).
• Store HR Policies & Integrity: Implement retail SOPs, cash/stock handling protocols, vault access rules, and security/loss prevention guidelines.
• Training & Development: Organize structured training programs covering product knowledge (gold purity, hallmarking, diamond basics), soft skills, upselling, and safety protocols.
• Employee Relations & Performance: Manage performance appraisals, incentive structures, grievance handling, engagement activities, and end-to-end exit formalities.
• Security & Admin Coordination: Partner with external security agencies for guard deployment, manage staff protocols respectfully, and oversee administrative needs such as uniforms and ID card management.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

• Experience: 3 to 8 years of proven HR experience in Retail, Gems & Jewellery, or Hospitality.
• Education: Graduate (BBA/B.Com/BA) required; MBA / PGDM in HR or Retail Management preferred.
• Technical Skills: Hands-on expertise in PF/ESI compliance, payroll processing, and shift scheduling.
• Key Traits: High integrity, strong conflict-resolution skills, and familiarity with high-value retail store environments.
