Job summary

GLS Corporate Advisors LLP is seeking an experienced Import & Export Clearance Specialist to manage end-to-end customs clearance. You will prepare and verify documents such as Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills and coordinate with Customs authorities, CHA, brokers, and freight forwarders.

The role requires strong knowledge of Indian Customs procedures, ensuring timely clearance and compliance with regulations, and close collaboration with internal teams to prevent delays and optimize costs.

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end import and export clearance processes.
• Knowledge of Indian Customs procedures and documentation.
• Experience coordinating with CHA/Customs brokers, ports, airports, and authorities.
• Ability to independently handle clearance activities and resolve operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end import & export customs clearance.
• Prepare and verify Bill of Entry, Shipping Bill, invoices and packing lists.
• Coordinate with Customs authorities, CHA/Customs Brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping lines.
• Ensure timely shipment clearance and resolve documentation issues.
• Ensure compliance with Indian Customs and applicable regulations.
• Track shipments and prevent detention and delays.
• Coordinate import duty payments before vessel arrival.
• Prepare import cost provisions and coordinate with Accounts.
• Coordinate export documentation and shipment execution.
• Follow up with freight forwarders and stakeholders.
• Maintain MIS and customs clearance records.
• Coordinate with Finance, Logistics, Suppliers, Freight Forwarders, and Customs Agents

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Import & Export Clearance Specialist with strong practical knowledge of customs clearance, documentation, compliance, and coordination with Customs Brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end import & export customs clearance
• Prepare and verify Bill of Entry, Shipping Bill, invoices, packing lists, and related documents
• Coordinate with Customs authorities, CHA/Customs Brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping lines
• Ensure timely shipment clearance and resolve customs/documentation issues
• Ensure compliance with Indian Customs, Customs Act, FTP, DGFT, and applicable regulations
• Track shipments and prevent detention, demurrage, and clearance delays
• Coordinate import duty payments before vessel arrival
• Prepare import cost provisions and coordinate with Accounts
• Coordinate export documentation and shipment execution
• Follow up with freight forwarders and relevant stakeholders
• Maintain MIS and customs clearance records
• Manage IDPMS & EDPMS closure in compliance with banking and RBI requirements
• Coordinate with Finance, Logistics, Suppliers, Freight Forwarders, and Customs Agents

Required Skills
