Job summary

Tata Technologies is seeking a Lighting System Design Engineer to work on vehicle lighting aggregates. You will contribute to detailed engineering, release activities, and validation plans aligned with project timelines and TML standards.

The role requires 2-6 years in lighting system design, knowledge of ECE/AIS regulations, plastics processes, and GD&T. Collaboration with suppliers and internal teams is essential for successful design, development and launch.

Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Work out detailed engineering, release activities and validation plan of a vehicle program for lighting system aggregates as per the Project schedule meeting all requirements of functionality, performance and quality as per TML standards.
• Plan, schedule and assign work to the team and monitor the Project progress, work out mitigation plans and ensure timely delivery at every milestones as per Project time plan.
• Support in Concept design, macro feasibility during styling stage and in engineering feasibility.
• Coordinate with all internal agencies within TML and external agencies (component suppliers) for design, engineering, development and Launch of vehicle.
• POST launch engineering support to resolve all manufacturing, Weight, Quality and Cost reduction activities.

Participate in the TML initiatives like VAVE , weight reduction and quality improvements and deliver as per given target of cost, quality and weight.

Preferred candidate profile

Team member should have 2 -6 years of experience in design & development of Lighting system components such as Headlamp, Tail lamp, DRL, Front Fog lamp, Mood Lighting etc (All exterior & interior Lighting sytem). Good knowledge of ECE & AIS Regulation, plastic design & processes. He should be able to understand GD&T.

• Understanding of Lighting System requirement at vehicle level.
• Finalization of Product specifications (RFQ Preparation) considering requirements.
• CAS & concept discussion before supplier nomination with Styling Team.
• Technical Review discussion based on RFQ with Supplier & sign off with nominated supplier with technical details.
• Responsible for new feature Development as per feature list by maintaining daily tracking list.
• Proposal & finalization of lighting system layout from concept Design to SOP, drawing preparation & approval for supplier.
• Review of DFMEA, DFA & DFM. component level & system level.
• TDKO & TMKO deliverables activates tracking to meet project time line.
• Technical discussion with the all surrounding aggregate holders for effective packaging.
• Assuring 100% BOM accuracy & responsible for TPL/Module creation with DML releases.
• Participant in Design validation plan testing discussion & sign off of new product.
• Experience in various automotive Plastics, Plastic product design, Tooling & Manufacturing process.
• Basic knowledge of electronics. Understand vehicle level integration requirements.
• Basic knowledge of PLM system and hands on with PLM release process.
• Good understanding of Engineering concept, proposals, master sections and Catia V5.
• Good communications skills (English written & verbal).
• Able to work without much supervision and propose possible solutions when requested.
