Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) seeks a Powertrain Packaging Specialist in Chennai, India. You will conduct geometry and interference checks, support vehicle integration, and perform packaging studies using CATIA V5/3DX and Teamcenter workflows.

The ideal candidate holds BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 2+ years in powertrain, and can interpret technical drawings, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and use Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering required.
• 2+ years of experience in powertrain components.
• Proficient in clearance & interference checks and vehicle packaging.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geometric compatibility studies including static/dynamic checks and clearances.
• Perform packaging evaluations to meet master design requirements before manufacturing.
• Hands-on CAD positioning and interpretation of technical drawings.
• Collaborate with regional cross-functional teams to resolve CAD/packaging issues.
• Familiarity with BOM, program complexity, and flexible part simulation is advantageous.

Domain knowledge

• BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 2+ years of experience in powertrain (Transmission, Driveline, Engine, Fuel, Cooling and Exhaust components).
• Must have practical experience in Clearance & Interference checks, Vehicle Integration, Packaging, Flexible part simulation and Design Rules for Powertrain/Vehicle components in 3DX environment.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools is required

Job Description

• Geometric compatibility studies encompass static and dynamic checks, clearances, variations, positional correctness, and interface completeness within Teamcenter/Vismockup/CATIA V5/3DX.
  Conducting package study evaluations to ensure each vehicle part meets master design requirements prior to manufacturing.
• Candidate should have hands-on experience in CAD positioning and ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Key responsibilities include collaborating with regional cross-functional teams and resolving CAD or packaging issues.
• Familiarity with BOM, program complexity, and flexible part simulation study (Vent, Cooling hoses and Bellows) would be a significant advantage.
