Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the powertrain team in Chennai. You will develop and modify 3D CAD models, generate 2D drawings with GD&T, and support design concepts and packaging studies for powertrain subsystems.

The role requires a strong CAD skill set, GD&T understanding, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. You will manage CAD data in PLM systems and contribute to technical documentation and engineering change

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6 or UG NX.
• Understanding of GD&T principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated passion for the automotive industry and powertrain technology.
• 3D CAD Modeling: Develop and modify complex 3D CAD models of powertrain components and assemblies.
• 2D Engineering Drawings: Create 2D engineering drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances (GD&T).
• Design Support: Assist senior engineers in design concept development, packaging studies, and integration of various powertrain subsystems.
• Data Management: Manage CAD data within PLM systems, ensuring proper version control, release, and archival of engineering documents.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and engineering change requests (OPD Notices).
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest CAD software features, design methodologies, and powertrain technologies.
