Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) is seeking a Powertrain Packaging Engineer to join our Chennai team. You will perform geometric compatibility studies and packaging analyses using CATIA V5/3DX, ensuring designs meet master requirements prior to manufacturing.

Ideal candidates hold a BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 4+ years of powertrain experience and strong CAD positioning skills, able to interpret technical drawings and communicate effectively with regional teams.

Qualifications

• BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 4+ years of experience in powertrain
• Experience with clearance & interference checks, vehicle integration, packaging, flexible part simulation and design rules for Powertrain/Vehicle components in 3DX environment
• Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Geometric compatibility studies including static and dynamic checks, clearances, variations, positional correctness, and interface completeness in Teamcenter/Vismockup/CATIA V5/3DX
• Conduct package study evaluations to ensure each vehicle part meets master design requirements prior to manufacturing
• Hands-on CAD positioning and interpretation of technical drawings
• Collaborate with regional cross-functional teams and resolve CAD/packaging issues; familiarity with BOM and program complexity and flexible part simulation

Domain knowledge

• BE/ME in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 4+ years of experience in powertrain (Transmission, Driveline, Engine, Fuel, Cooling and Exhaust components).
• Must have practical experience in Clearance & Interference checks, Vehicle Integration, Packaging, Flexible part simulation and Design Rules for Powertrain/Vehicle components in 3DX environment. Strong communication skills are essential.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools is required
