Job summary

Shar Projects in India seeks a seasoned Head of Supply Chain Management & Procurement to lead end-to-end supply chain, strategic sourcing, procurement operations, vendor management, and inventory optimization across the organization.

You will drive ERP/SAP implementations, automate processes, manage budgets, ensure material availability, and mentor teams, reporting to Directors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• MBA in Supply Chain, Operations, or Procurement is preferred.

Job Title: Head - Supply Chain Management & Procurement

Job Summary

The Head of Supply Chain Management & Procurement will be responsible for leading the organization's end-to-end supply chain, strategic sourcing, procurement operations, vendor management, inventory optimization, logistics, and cost reduction initiatives. The role will ensure uninterrupted material availability, efficient procurement practices, compliance with company policies, and alignment with business growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement & Sourcing

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead sourcing activities, contract negotiations, and supplier selection processes.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization, value engineering, and spend reduction.
• Establish category management and strategic sourcing frameworks.

Vendor Management

• Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners.
• Evaluate supplier performance through KPIs
• Drive supplier audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Negotiate commercial agreements, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs).

Supply Chain Management

• Oversee demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, warehousing, and logistics.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials and services across operations.
• Optimize inventory levels while maintaining target service levels.
• Drive supply chain efficiency through process improvements and digital transformation initiatives.

Cost Management & Budget Control

• Manage procurement budgets and deliver annual cost-saving targets.
• Analyze spend data and identify procurement efficiencies.
• Monitor supply chain costs including transportation, warehousing, and inventory carrying costs.

Risk & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop risk mitigation strategies for supply disruptions and supplier dependencies.
• Implement sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop procurement and supply chain teams.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Quality, and Project site teams.
• Present procurement and supply chain performance metrics to senior management.

Technology & Process Excellence

• Drive ERP/SAP, e-procurement, and supply chain automation initiatives.
• Establish KPI dashboards and performance monitoring systems.
• Implement best practices in sourcing, procurement, inventory, and logistics management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Annual procurement savings achieved.
• Supplier performance and on-time delivery.
• Inventory turnover and working capital optimization.
• Cost reduction and productivity improvements.
• Procurement cycle time.
• Material availability and stock-out reduction.
• Logistics efficiency and transportation costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• MBA in Supply Chain, Operations, or Procurement preferred.

Experience

• 25 to 30 years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement.
• Minimum 5 years in a leadership role as HOD managing procurement and supply chain teams.
• Strong experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, vendor management, and inventory optimization.
• Experience in Metal and Mining industrial sectors preferred.
