Job summary

Job Title: Supply Chain Manager
Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategic supply chain initiatives that support the company's operational and business objectives. The role focuses on supplier development, procurement strategy, cost optimization, inventory management, market intelligence, and continuous improvement of supply chain performance. The incumbent will work closely with suppliers, production, sales, quality, and finance teams to ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Supply Chain Management
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth plans.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to ensure continuity of supply and cost competitiveness.
  • Establish and maintain systematic procurement processes, framework agreements, and supply chain governance structures.
  • Drive Just-In-Time (JIT) supply chain practices to optimize inventory levels and reduce carrying costs.
  • Evaluate and improve end-to-end supply chain processes for enhanced efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement and supply chain activities with business requirements.
  • Develop long-term supplier development roadmaps and category management strategies.
2. Supplier Development & Relationship Management
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers for critical raw materials, components, consumables, and services.
  • Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key suppliers.
  • Develop supplier qualification, performance evaluation, and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits, reviews, and performance assessments.
  • Drive supplier capability improvement and continuous development programs.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing, delivery terms, and service-level commitments.
  • Monitor supplier compliance with quality, delivery, sustainability, and ethical standards.
  • Encourage and support suppliers in adopting sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Establish supplier scorecards and corrective action plans where required.
3. Data Analytics & Market Intelligence
  • Conduct market research and comparative analysis using HSN codes and industry benchmarks.
  • Develop and maintain pricing benchmarks, commodity trends, and supplier cost databases.
  • Generate comprehensive market intelligence reports to support strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Create and maintain dynamic dashboards for procurement and supply chain performance monitoring.
  • Analyze market trends, demand patterns, and competitive intelligence to identify business opportunities.
  • Provide actionable insights to management and sales teams regarding sourcing and market developments.
  • Perform advanced Excel-based modeling, forecasting, and statistical analysis.
  • Utilize data analytics to drive informed decision-making and operational improvements.
4. Cost Optimization & Inventory Management
  • Analyze supplier cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Develop procurement benchmark tools, pricing indexes, and should-cost models.
  • Lead supply and demand forecasting activities to ensure material availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Implement value engineering and cost optimization initiatives for consumables and purchased items.
  • Optimize inventory levels through JIT, lean supply chain, and inventory control practices.
  • Monitor key supply chain KPIs including inventory turns, supplier performance, delivery adherence, and procurement savings.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks that may impact cost, quality, or delivery performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on supply chain efficiency and profitability.
Non-Critical Responsibilities
  • Maintain and support IMS/IATF documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Develop alternate sourcing options and new vendors for consumables, spares, and indirect materials.
  • Participate in process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Support quality, production, and engineering teams in supplier-related matters.
  • Assist in implementing digital tools and automation within supply chain processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8-12 years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Vendor Development roles.
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, engineering, industrial products, or related sectors preferred.
  • Strong understanding of JIT, Lean Manufacturing, Inventory Management, and Supplier Development processes.
