Job summary

Right Advisors Private Limited is seeking a seasoned Head of Steel Structures to lead the complete steel structure function for building projects. Job Description – Head of Steel Structures
Reporting To:

Project Director / Head of Construction

Role Purpose:

To lead and manage the complete steel structure function for building construction projects, ensuring structural design coordination, fabrication, procurement, erection, quality, safety, cost, and timely project completion in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning and execution of all structural steel works for building projects.
  • Review and coordinate structural designs, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection methodology.
  • Coordinate with consultants, architects, civil/MEP teams, contractors, fabricators, and project management teams.
  • Manage steel procurement, material specifications, fabrication, inspection, transportation, and erection.
  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and take corrective actions for delays.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, and relevant IS/International standards.
  • Supervise fabrication and erection activities, including welding, bolting, alignment, connections, and structural stability.
  • Ensure proper quality control, inspection, testing, and documentation of steel works.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC and third-party inspection agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements during fabrication, lifting, working at height, and erection activities.
  • Review quantities, BOQs, material take-offs, and steel consumption to control project costs.
  • Manage subcontractors and steel fabricators and evaluate their performance.
  • Resolve technical and site-related issues in coordination with consultants and construction teams.
  • Maintain project documentation, as-built drawings, inspection records, and handover documents.
  • Lead and develop the steel structure engineering and site execution team.
Required Qualification & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master's degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage.
  • Typically 15–20+ years of experience in structural steel/building construction, with significant experience managing large projects.
  • Strong experience in steel fabrication, structural connections, erection, and site execution.
  • Good knowledge of structural design principles, relevant codes, and construction practices.
  • Experience in managing contractors, vendors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong leadership, planning, coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Completion of steel works as per project schedule.
  • Structural quality and compliance with approved designs.
  • Safety performance and reduction of site incidents.
  • Steel material consumption and cost control.
  • Fabrication and erection productivity.
  • Timely resolution of technical/site issues.
  • Successful project inspection, testing, and handover.
