The Site Engineer - Structural Steel is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing all structural steel fabrication, erection, and installation activities in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and construction schedules. The role involves managing the erection of structural steel frameworks, columns, beams, bracings, trusses, platforms, staircases, grating systems, equipment support structures, pipe racks, and miscellaneous steel components. The engineer shall review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, connection details, erection methodologies, lifting plans, and material specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
Responsibilities include coordinating with clients, consultants, subcontractors, fabricators, survey teams, cranes, and erection crews to ensure safe and efficient execution of works. The engineer shall monitor fabrication quality, material traceability, bolt tightening, welding activities, dimensional control, alignment, verticality, plumbness, and connection installations. Additional duties include conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with approved method statements, coordinating non-destructive testing (NDT), supporting quality audits, resolving technical issues, managing manpower and equipment resources, and tracking project progress against approved schedules.
The Site Engineer shall prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, maintain erection records, coordinate inspection requests, and support testing, punch-list clearance, and project handover documentation. The role also requires strict adherence to HSE regulations, lifting safety requirements, and quality procedures to ensure incident-free project execution. Experience in Data Centre, Industrial, Power, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, or Commercial Construction projects is preferred. The candidate should possess strong knowledge of structural steel erection methodologies, welding practices, bolted connections, fabrication processes, lifting operations, NDT requirements, and relevant codes such as AISC, BS, ASTM, IS, and project-specific standards. A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience is required. Strong technical, planning, coordination, and communication skills are essential for successful project delivery.
