We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Head of Marketing to lead the marketing function for our growing DevTools / developer-focused SaaS business.
The ideal candidate has 7–10 years of experience in marketing, with significant experience in the DevTools, developer infrastructure, API, cloud, cybersecurity, SaaS, or technical product ecosystem.
You will own the marketing strategy end-to-end — from positioning and developer acquisition to content, product marketing, demand generation, community, partnerships, and brand — with a strong focus on measurable business growth.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who understands that developers are not traditional B2B buyers and knows how to build trust, adoption, and advocacy within technical communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute the overall marketing strategy aligned with company and revenue goals.
- Develop GTM strategies for new products, features, and market segments.
- Define positioning, messaging, value propositions, and competitive differentiation.
- Identify new channels and growth opportunities within the developer ecosystem.
- Build and manage the marketing budget and ROI across channels.
- Develop marketing strategies specifically targeted at developers, engineering teams, CTOs, and technical decision-makers.
- Translate complex technical products into clear, compelling messaging.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to understand product capabilities and customer pain points.
- Create product narratives, use cases, technical content, demos, landing pages, and launch campaigns.
- Drive developer adoption, activation, retention, and advocacy.
Content & Thought Leadership
- Build a strong content engine across blogs, technical articles, case studies, whitepapers, newsletters, webinars, videos, and social platforms.
- Establish the company as a credible voice within the developer ecosystem.
- Develop thought-leadership programs for founders, technical leaders, and subject-matter experts.
- Work with developer advocates and technical teams to create authentic developer-first content.
Demand Generation & Growth
- Own demand-generation initiatives across organic, paid, outbound, events, communities, and partnerships.
- Develop strategies for lead generation, pipeline creation, conversion, and customer acquisition.
- Drive SEO, SEM, paid campaigns, email marketing, and lifecycle marketing.
- Build and optimize marketing funnels using data and experimentation.
- Track CAC, MQL/SQL, pipeline contribution, conversion rates, activation, and marketing ROI.
Developer Community & Ecosystem
- Build relationships with developer communities, engineering leaders, CTOs, tech communities, influencers, and industry groups.
- Develop developer community and advocacy programs.
- Identify relevant conferences, hackathons, meetups, podcasts, newsletters, and technical communities.
- Establish partnerships with complementary technology companies and ecosystem players.
Brand & Communications
- Own the company’s brand strategy and market perception.
- Develop consistent messaging across website, social media, sales collateral, PR, events, and product communication.
- Work with founders and leadership on PR, media, speaking opportunities, and thought leadership.
- Build a distinctive brand within the highly competitive DevTools ecosystem.
- Build, mentor, and manage the marketing team as the organization scales.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and Leadership.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on experimentation, execution, and measurable outcomes.
- Manage external agencies, freelancers, creators, and marketing partners where required.
What We’re Looking For
- 7–10 years of marketing experience, preferably in DevTools, Developer Platforms, SaaS, Cloud, APIs, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, or another technical B2B product category.
- Proven experience building and executing GTM and growth strategies for technical products.
- Strong understanding of the developer ecosystem and developer buying behaviour.
- Experience marketing to developers, engineering teams, CTOs, Heads of Engineering, and technical decision-makers.
- Strong understanding of PLG (Product-Led Growth), developer-led growth, and/or B2B SaaS marketing.
- Excellent understanding of content marketing, SEO, demand generation, product marketing, and community-led growth.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect marketing activities to business and revenue outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand technical products and simplify complex concepts without diluting their technical credibility.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build from 0→1, not just manage an established marketing function.
- Strong stakeholder-management and leadership skills.
Good to Have
- Experience working at a DevTools startup or developer-focused SaaS company.
- Experience with products involving APIs, SDKs, CI/CD, observability, cloud infrastructure, AI developer tools, testing, security, databases, or developer productivity.
- Existing network within developer and engineering communities.
- Experience launching products in international markets, particularly the US and Europe.
- Experience with PLG, freemium, self-serve SaaS, or usage-based pricing models.
- Technical fluency or previous experience working closely with engineering/product teams.
