Job summary

Harsh Life Science is building and leading its HR department from the ground up, covering policy, recruitment, workforce planning, payroll, and compliance across all offices. The Head of HR will partner with the Director on people-related decisions and drive employee engagement and operational excellence.

Ideal candidate will independently lead HR, build a team, and ensure statutory compliance across locations, with strong communication and stakeholder management to support company growth.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end HR strategy, policy formulation, and implementation across all offices.
• Lead recruitment and workforce planning aligned with growth and hiring priorities.
• Build and manage the HR team, assigning work and setting performance standards.
• Ensure timely statutory compliance across locations - PF, ESI, labour laws, and related regs.
• Design onboarding, performance reviews, and employee engagement frameworks.
• Oversee payroll accuracy and coordination across branches.
• Handle escalated employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
• Report to the Director with updates on HR metrics, hiring status, and compliance.
• Coordinate with external consultants, auditors, and legal advisors on HR and labour-law matters.

Job description

The Head of HR will build and lead the HR department from the ground up - setting policy, driving recruitment and workforce planning, ensuring statutory compliance across all branches, and acting as the Director's key partner on all people-related decisions.

Role & responsibilities

• Own end-to-end HR strategy, policy formulation, and implementation across all offices.
• Lead recruitment and workforce planning in line with company growth plans, working directly with the Director on hiring priorities.
• Build and manage the HR team, allocating work and setting performance standards.
• Ensure timely statutory compliance across locations - PF, ESI, labour laws, and other applicable regulations.
• Design and implement onboarding, performance review, and employee engagement frameworks company-wide.
• Oversee payroll accuracy and coordination across branches.
• Handle escalated employee relations matters, grievances, and disciplinary processes.
• Report directly to the Director with regular updates on HR metrics, hiring status, and compliance posture.
• Coordinate with external consultants, auditors, and legal advisors on HR and labour-law matters.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong command of HR strategy, statutory compliance, and labour law.
• Proven ability to independently lead an HR function and build a team.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including direct reporting to leadership.
• Strong organizational and multi-location coordination skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and HR/HRMS software.
