Job summary

Embark is seeking a Head of Admissions and Marketing to lead the admissions and marketing functions of the School in Bengaluru. The role will oversee a team including the Communications Manager, External Relations Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist, Marketing Manager, Admissions Manager and Admissions Counselors.

The successful candidate will drive the school’s marketing strategy, coordinate admissions processes, and report to the Head of School as part of the Senior Management Team.

Responsibilities

• Meet with key prospective parents and provide information and campus tours.
• Support Admissions Manager in scheduling assessments and interviews.
• Maintain oversight over admissions correspondence, applications and database.
• Approve and suggest improvements to the admissions process.
• Liaise with parents, schools and organisations to raise awareness of the school.
• Identify local and international sources of potential students and build a network of contacts.
• Provide enrollment statistics and market trends to inform development and budgets.
• Communicate new student information to school teams and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Principals and senior staff on staffing and recruitment decisions.
• Lead sessions with academic teams to align admission work across the school.
• Maintain awareness of enrolment trends in Bangalore and India and report to leadership.
• Coordinate the marketing and communications duties to support school growth.

• The Head of Admissions and Marketing is an important role in the School as admissions is often the first point of contact to the School, and the individual will be responsible for further developing and delivering the School’s marketing strategy in order to meet enrolment targets.
  
• The Head of Admissions and Marketing will be part of the Senior Management Team of the school and will be expected to contribute to a collegial and supportive approach to whole-school decision making.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ADMISSIONS)

• Meet with key / selected prospective parents and their children, respond to and follow up initial admission inquiries and provide information and campus tours for some visiting prospective parents/students;
  
• Support the Admissions Manager when required in scheduling admissions assessments and interviews for visiting applicants and those required to take tests under the admissions procedures;
  
• Maintain oversight over correspondence and application files related to student recruitment and applications for admission and the application data in the electronic admissions database;
  
• Approve and make suggestions for all developments in the admissions process.
  
• Liaise with individuals (primarily parents) and organizations (local schools, businesses, international organizations, etc.) in creating awareness about the school as widely as possible.
  
• Determine sources of potential students in the local and international markets and build a network of marketing and admission contacts locally, within India and in target markets abroad.
  
• Provide statistics on enrollment (admissions and withdrawals) to the administration, evaluate data to predict trends and to provide a basis for future school development and budget planning.
  
• Provide the School Administrative and Academic teams with necessary information on new students and ensure effective communication to all relevant stakeholders of student withdrawals.
  
• Review all student completed applications and ensure that all requirements have been covered before the applications are sent to the divisional Principals.
  
• Collaborate with Divisional Principals and the Head of School during the decision making process on staffing and recruitment.
  
• Support the Admissions team by finding and providing relevant professional development opportunities.
  
• Lead sessions with the academic teams to ensure a full understanding of the work of the admission team throughout the school.
  
• Maintain awareness of trends in Bangalore and India that could impact student enrolment due to developments in the corporate and diplomatic world, State or National Government decisions, economic indicators, etc... and communicate relevant information to the school leadership team members.
  
• Evaluate the work of the Admissions Manager and assess staffing needs in the department based on available evidence related to workload and performance.
  
• Liaise with ELT members and the Student Support Services department to ensure that admissions decisions are aligned with the school’s admissions policy and the capacity of the school to meet the needs of all enrolled students.
  

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS)

• Develop and oversee the implementation of the School’s communication and marketing strategy with the Head of School.
  
• Supervise and support the creation of all internal and external marketing collateral.
  
• Protect the integrity of the School’s Brand Image.
  
• Gather relevant data and evidence from the internal and external community to develop and improve perception and brand recall.
  
• Coordinate the annual advertising schedule ‑ supporting school events, the admissions calendar, scholarship program, and the school’s presence as a leading international school in the region, including managing the design and production of copy for these advertisements in a range of local and national media (including the school’s social media channels);
  
• Plan and attend events that will provide prospective parents and students with an opportunity to find out more about the education, meet current parents and staff, and organize trial days in classes when necessary.
  
• Ensure that the school website is current and reflects the student experience at the school accurately and appealingly.
  
• Ensure that the school enjoys positive coverage in appropriate media. Work with the Head of School to help to identify stories to offer to the media, supply press information and assist with any media enquiries or press events;
  
• Nurture relationships with existing corporate clients and develop relationships with any corporates, consulates, relocating agencies that would result in growth for the school in this area.
  
• Represent the School at external events that could potentially contribute to School Growth.
  
• Liaise with all Embassy Group entities and cross leverage resources that contribute to School growth.
  
• Ensure that the school has an accurate database of alumni and that the School organizes regular updates and opportunities for them to connect and share stories that will reflect positively on the school. Develop a strategy to leverage alumni and all stakeholders to contribute towards School Growth.
  
• Ensure that the marketing team and academic teams have a full understanding of each-other’s work and needs.
  
• Provide updates on School Growth and Development to the relevant Governing Council committee monthly, and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the Head of School on enrolment and marketing developments.
  
• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contribute ideas and perspectives on all school and campus-related projects and developments from a marketing and/or enrollment perspective.
