Job summary

Roots Recruitment in Navi Mumbai seeks an experienced leader to build and run a new 3PL warehousing vertical. You will shape the operating and commercial strategy, identify customer opportunities and drive scalable processes across multiple facilities.

You will own warehouse operations, establish KPIs and SOPs, ensure inventory integrity and exceptional service, and lead a high-performing team while optimizing costs and margins in a fast-paced logistics setting.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of experience in 3PL, contract logistics, warehousing or supply chain operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the company's 3PL warehousing vertical from the ground up.
• Develop the operating and commercial strategy for the 3PL business.
• Identify target sectors, customers and business opportunities.
• Work closely with promoters/management on business planning, expansion and growth.
• Develop scalable systems and processes that can be replicated across multiple facilities.
• Take overall responsibility for the performance of 3PL warehouse operations.
• Establish SOPs, KPIs, SLAs and operating standards across facilities.
• Ensure high standards of inventory accuracy, cargo handling, safety, security and customer service.
• Drive operational efficiency, productivity and cost optimisation.
• Build strong relationships with customers and act as the senior escalation point for key accounts.
• Ensure adherence to contractual SLAs and customer-specific operating requirements.
• Build the 3PL organisation from the ground up.
• Hire, train and develop the operations, warehouse and support teams.
• Establish clear roles, accountability and performance metrics.
• Create a culture of ownership, discipline, technology adoption and continuous improvement.
• Take ownership of the financial performance of the 3PL business.
• Develop budgets, operating costs and manpower plans.
• Monitor warehouse productivity, revenue, margins and operating costs.
• Drive profitability through better utilisation, process improvement and commercial discipline.
• Participate in pricing, contract negotiations and commercial discussions with customers.
• Work closely with the management/business development team to identify and convert 3PL opportunities.
• Participate in customer meetings, solution design and RFP/RFQ processes.
• Develop warehousing solutions based on customer requirements.
• Understand customer supply chains and translate them into commercially viable operating models.
• Drive the adoption of WMS, warehouse technology, automation and data-driven operating systems.
• Establish real-time dashboards and MIS for operational and financial performance.
• Continuously identify opportunities for automation, process improvement and productivity enhancement.
• Build a technology-enabled operating environment rather than relying on people-heavy processes.
• Establish robust systems for statutory, customer and industry-specific compliance.
• Ensure adherence to warehouse safety, security, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with regulated sectors such as Pharma, Chemicals or FMCG will be an advantage.
• Develop systems capable of meeting demanding customer audits and international quality standards.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5-7+ years of experiencein 3PL, contract logistics, warehousing or supply chain operations.
• Experience working with demanding customers in Pharma, FMCG, Chemicals, Consumer, Industrial or similar sectorsis preferred.
• Strong experience in managingwarehouse operationsand preferably multiple facilities.
• Experience in setting up a new warehouse/3PL operation will be strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of WMS, inventory management, MHE, warehouse processes and technology.
• Commercial orientation with an understanding of warehouse costing, pricing and margins.
• Proven ability to build and manage teams.
• Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with demanding customers in Pharma, FMCG, Chemicals, Consumer, Industrial or similar sectorsis preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High ownership and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Ability to work closely with promoters/management and operate in a fast-moving environment.
