Job summary

INDURE is seeking a General Manager Projects to lead the entire project execution function across diverse industrial EPC projects in India. The role demands strategic leadership, deep domain expertise in mechanical, civil or electrical EPC, and a strong customer-focus to drive safe, profitable delivery and repeat business.

Qualifications

  • BE/BTech in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years in senior project leadership; 22–30 years EPC experience.
  • MBA/PGDM in Project Management or Operations will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for all ongoing projects and ensure timely completion within approved budgets.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing teams to ensure deliverables and milestones.

Position Summary

The General Manager_ Projects is responsible for the successful execution of all Company projects and shall ensure that every project is delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and to the complete satisfaction of the customer while building a strong, disciplined, and customer-focused project organisation.

The General Manager Projects shall lead the Company's complete project execution function and shall have functional responsibility over:

  • Project Managers
  • Project Planning & Controls
  • Construction Management
  • Commissioning
  • Project Commercial & Contracts
  • QA/QC
  • HSE
  • Project Procurement Coordination

The position shall work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance and Business Development to ensure successful delivery of all projects.

Role & responsibilities
1. Project Leadership
  • Provide overall leadership for all ongoing projects.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects within approved budgets.
  • Drive achievement of project milestones.
  • Establish project execution strategies and implementation plans.
  • Review project performance regularly and initiate corrective actions wherever required.
2. Project Planning & Controls
  • Ensure preparation and monitoring of detailed project schedules.
  • Review project progress against baseline programmes.
  • Identify schedule risks and implement recovery plans.
  • Monitor critical paths and project milestones.
  • Ensure timely reporting of project progress to management.
3. Commercial & Contract Management
  • Protect the Company's contractual and commercial interests throughout project execution.
  • Manage variations, change orders, claims and contractual correspondence.
  • Support negotiation of commercial issues with customers.
  • Minimise contractual risks.
  • Improve project profitability through proactive commercial management.
4. Customer Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants and project authorities.
  • Represent the Company during project review meetings.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction and secure repeat business.
5. Site Leadership
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Project Managers and Site Teams.
  • Ensure effective mobilisation of manpower and resources.
  • Monitor project execution at all sites.
  • Support resolution of critical site issues.
  • Ensure coordination between Head Office and project sites.
6. Engineering & Procurement Coordination
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing teams.
  • Ensure timely availability of engineering deliverables.
  • Resolve engineering issues affecting project execution.
  • Monitor procurement status for critical equipment and materials.
  • Facilitate smooth coordination across all functions.
7. Construction & Commissioning
  • Ensure projects are executed safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor construction quality and productivity.
  • Review commissioning plans.
  • Support successful commissioning and project handover.
  • Ensure timely closure of punch points.
8. Financial Management
  • Monitor project budgets and profitability.
  • Improve billing efficiency.
  • Expedite collections in coordination with Finance and Commercial teams.
  • Monitor project cash flow.
  • Optimise utilisation of project resources.
9. Risk Management
  • Identify technical, commercial and execution risks.
  • Develop mitigation plans.
  • Escalate major risks to senior management promptly.
  • Maintain project risk registers.
10. Team Development
  • Build and mentor a high-performing Projects organisation.
  • Develop future Project Managers.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality and customer focus.
Mandatory Travel & Customer Engagement

The General Manager Projects shall spend significant time at project sites and customer locations.

Responsibilities include:
  • Visiting every major project on a planned basis.
  • Conducting project review meetings at the site.
  • Meeting customers, consultants and project authorities during each visit.
  • Personally intervening in delayed, technically challenging or commercially sensitive projects.
  • Building long-term relationships with customers to secure repeat business.
  • Providing regular feedback to senior management regarding project risks, customer expectations and improvement opportunities.
Travel Requirement

The position requires extensive travel (approximately 30 to 50%) across project sites and customer offices in India and overseas, as required.

  • Proven experience in executing large industrial EPC projects.
