Role Description

The Freelance Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, refractions, and vision assessments during home, office, and society visits for customers in Mumbai. This full-time, on-site role involves conducting certified home eye tests, advising customers on lens options (including progressive lenses), and recommending suitable frames and eyewear solutions based on individual visual needs and lifestyle. The Optometrist will educate customers on eye health, proper lens usage, and adaptation techniques, while ensuring accurate documentation of clinical findings and prescriptions. The role also includes collaborating with the Chashmalo team to coordinate appointments, maintain professional service standards, and support minor adjustments and servicing of eyewear to enhance overall customer experience.

Qualifications

• Formal optometry qualification (Bachelor’s or Diploma in Optometry) from a recognized institution and valid registration as per local regulations.
• Strong clinical skills in refraction, binocular vision assessment, and comprehensive eye examinations, including experience with progressive lens fitting and adaptation.
• Ability to deliver home-based and on-site services, including certified eye tests, with attention to accuracy, hygiene, and patient safety.
• Excellent communication and counseling skills to explain prescriptions, lens options, and visual adaptation in clear and customer-friendly language.
• Customer-focused mindset with a professional, empathetic approach and the ability to build trust during home and workplace visits.
• Comfort working independently in field settings, managing schedules, and maintaining detailed clinical and service records.
• Familiarity with basic optical equipment and minor eyewear servicing (adjustments, fitting, and cleaning) is highly beneficial.
• Fluency in English and local languages commonly spoken in Mumbai; prior experience in retail optical, home eye-test services, or community eye care is an advantage.
