About the Role

We're is looking for an experienced and innovative Product Developer with strong experience in the FMCG Food Industry. The candidate will be responsible for developing new food products, improving existing products, conducting trials, coordinating with production and quality teams, and ensuring that products meet defined standards for taste, quality, shelf life, cost, and market requirements.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in food product development, formulation, seasoning/flavour development, product trials, and commercialization within the FMCG food sector.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and launch new FMCG food products based on market trends, customer requirements, and business needs.
• Improve and modify existing products to enhance taste, texture, quality, shelf life, and consumer acceptance.
• Develop and standardize product formulations and recipes with proper documentation.
• Conduct laboratory, pilot-scale, and production trials for new and modified products.
• Work on flavours, seasonings, spices, coatings, and product variants as required.
• Identify suitable raw materials, ingredients, flavours, and additives for product development.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, Packaging, and Sales/Marketing teams during product development and commercialization.
• Conduct sensory evaluation and product testing to ensure consistency and consumer acceptance.
• Monitor product performance during trials and identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain proper records of formulations, trial reports, product specifications, and development activities.
• Assist in determining product costing and formulation cost optimization without compromising product quality.
• Work on shelf-life studies and stability testing in coordination with the Quality team.
• Ensure products comply with applicable food safety, hygiene, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate new ingredients and suppliers from a product-development perspective.
• Conduct competitor/product benchmarking and identify opportunities for new product innovation.
• Support the transition of successful products from R&D/trial stage to commercial production.
• Troubleshoot product-related issues arising during production and recommend corrective improvements.
• Stay updated on FMCG food trends, consumer preferences, new flavours, ingredients, and product innovations.
• Maintain confidentiality of company formulations, recipes, and product development information.

Required Experience & Skills

• 3+ years of relevant experience in Product Development / R&D within the FMCG Food Industry.
• Food industry experience is mandatory.
• Experience in dry fruits, nuts, snacks, namkeen, roasted products, flavoured products, spices, seasoning, or similar FMCG food categories will be preferred.
• Strong understanding of food formulations, ingredients, flavours, seasoning, and product trials.
• Hands-on experience in new product development and product improvement.
• Good understanding of food quality, hygiene, food safety, and shelf-life requirements.
• Ability to conduct and evaluate product trials and sensory testing.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Practical, innovative, and result-oriented approach.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, Food Processing, or a related field.
• Candidates with relevant FMCG food product-development experience will be preferred.
