Job summary

BharatRohan Airborne Innovations Ltd. in Gurugram, Haryana, seeks an experienced Road Fleet Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of our commercial vehicles, from acquisition and maintenance to route optimization and driver safety.

You will build SOPs, manage budgets, monitor KPIs, and lead a team of drivers and dispatchers, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost-efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 3–5+ years in fleet management, transportation, or logistics operations.
• Regulatory knowledge: Transportation laws, safety compliance, and labor regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily dispatch and routing of the road fleet to ensure maximum efficiency and on-time delivery.
• Monitor fleet performance using telematics and GPS tracking software to identify areas for operational improvement.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for vehicle utilization and load planning.
• Schedule and manage preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to minimize vehicle downtime.
• Manage lifecycle of fleet assets including procurement, registration, licensing, and disposal.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with external repair shops, fuel providers, and parts suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, Hours of Service).
• Develop driver safety programs and accident prevention initiatives.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and manage a team of drivers and dispatchers.
• Develop and monitor fleet budgets and report KPIs like cost per mile and fuel consumption.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Road Fleet Manager to oversee our daily fleet operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of our commercial vehicles, managing everything from acquisition and routine maintenance to route optimization and driver safety. The ideal candidate is a strategic problem-solver who can balance cost-efficiency with operational excellence while ensuring strict adherence to transportation regulations

Key Responsibilities

1.Operations & Logistics

• Oversee the daily dispatch and routing of the road fleet to ensure maximum efficiency and on‑time delivery.
• Monitor fleet performance using telematics and GPS tracking software to identify areas for operational improvement.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for vehicle utilization and load planning.

2. Maintenance & Asset Management

• Schedule and manage preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to minimize vehicle downtime.
• Manage the lifecycle of fleet assets, including procurement, registration, licensing, and disposal of older vehicles.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with external repair shops, fuel providers, and parts suppliers.

3. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with local, state, and national transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, Hours of Service).
• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive driver safety programs and accident prevention initiatives.
• Investigate accidents or incidents, manage insurance claims, and implement corrective actions.

4. Team Leadership

• Recruit, onboard, train, and manage a team of drivers and dispatchers.
• Monitor driver performance, conduct regular evaluations, and provide coaching on fuel‑efficient driving and safety protocols.

5. Financial Management

• Develop and manage the annual fleet budget, tracking expenses related to fuel, maintenance, and vehicle leasing/purchasing.
• Analyze fleet data to report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as cost per mile, vehicle utilization, and fuel consumption.

Skills Required

• Fleet Management Software: Proficiency in telematics, GPS tracking, and routing software (e.g., Samsara, Geotab, KeepTruckin).
• Data Analysis: Ability to interpret data regarding fuel usage, route times, and maintenance costs to drive strategic decisions.
• Vendor Management: Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable rates for fuel, maintenance, and vehicle leases.

Soft Skills

• Crisis Management:* Ability to stay calm and make rapid, effective decisions during vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or supply chain disruptions.
• Leadership:* Strong interpersonal skills to manage diverse teams of drivers and operational staff.
• Communication:* Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting to upper management and briefing drivers on safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, transportation, or logistics operations.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of transportation laws, safety compliance, and labor regulations governing commercial driving.
• Certifications (Preferred): Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or similar industry credentials.
• Clean Record: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
