Job summary

BVG India in Chennai invites applications for a Fire Safety Technician role. You will operate and monitor fire hydrants, sprinklers and firefighting pumps, inspect valves, hose reels and tanks, and carry out routine preventive maintenance. You will also document inspections and support alarm activation procedures.

The position is on-site, requiring strict adherence to site rules and safety standards, prompt fault reporting, and participation in fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor fire hydrant, sprinkler and firefighting systems.
• Inspect fire pumps, jockey pumps, hydrant valves, hose reels and fire tanks.
• Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance of firefighting equipment.
• Monitor fire pump room and ensure pumps are maintained in operational condition.
• Check water pressure, valves, pipelines and related equipment.
• Attend fire alarms and support emergency response procedures.
• Conduct fire pump testing and maintain inspection records.
• Report faults, leakages and equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Support fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
• Follow fire safety procedures and site regulations.
