Job summary

Shiv Nadar School in Haryana is seeking a Facility Manager to ensure a safe, hygienic, and well-maintained environment for students up to Grade 2. You will lead day-to-day operations and focus on proactive risk management.

You will oversee safety readiness of classrooms, corridors, washrooms, play areas, and common spaces, and coordinate housekeeping, maintenance, and security teams to uphold safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the overall safety and readiness of the school building.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, proactively identifying hazards for young children.
• Ensure furniture, fixtures, electrical points, doors, windows, play equipment, and student-accessible infrastructure are safe and well maintained.
• Ensure the school is prepared for fire, medical, evacuation, and other emergencies, with regular checks of exits and alarms.
• Coordinate and monitor housekeeping, maintenance, security, and other support staff per safety protocols.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, drinking water, and waste management across the campus.
• Manage access to the building with the security team, ensuring controlled movement of visitors and contractors.
• Oversee maintenance activities and contractors to avoid compromising safety or operations.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for infrastructure, equipment, and building systems.
• Keep records of safety inspections, incidents, maintenance issues, corrective actions, and certifications.
• Work with leadership to keep the building child-friendly, accessible, and fit for purpose.
• Develop a child-first and preventive safety culture to identify and resolve risks before incidents occur.

Role Purpose:

The Facility Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, hygienic, and well-maintained school environment for students up to Grade 2, with a strong focus on proactive risk management and day-to-day operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the overall safety and readiness of the school building, including classrooms, corridors, staircases, washrooms, play areas, activity spaces, and common areas.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards, particularly those relevant to young children.
• Ensure all furniture, fixtures, electrical points, doors, windows, play equipment, and other student-accessible infrastructure are safe and well maintained.
• Ensure the school is adequately prepared for fire, medical, evacuation, and other emergencies, including regular checks of emergency exits, fire safety equipment, alarms, and evacuation routes.
• Coordinate and monitor housekeeping, maintenance, security, and other support staff, ensuring appropriate deployment and adherence to school safety protocols.
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, drinking water, and waste management across the school premises.
• Manage access to the building in coordination with the security team, ensuring controlled movement of visitors, contractors, and service personnel within student areas.
• Oversee maintenance activities and contractors, ensuring that repair or construction work does not compromise student safety or normal school operations.
• Maintain and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for critical infrastructure, equipment, and building systems, ensuring timely servicing and repairs.
• Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, maintenance issues, corrective actions, and statutory certifications, and elevate critical concerns promptly.
• Work closely with school leadership and other teams to address facility-related requirements and ensure the building remains child-friendly, accessible, and fit for purpose.
• Develop a strong child-first and preventive safety culture, ensuring potential risks are identified and resolved before they result in an incident.
