Job summary

VS Industries in India is seeking a Fabrication & Assembly Engineer to manage fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning of industrial machinery, tanks, structures, conveyors, and turnkey projects.

The role involves onsite supervision, coordination with fabricators and subcontractors, ensuring quality, safety, and timely project completion, with travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience in fabrication and turnkey projects.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings, welding processes, and piping.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise fabrication activities based on approved drawings.
• Coordinate with fabricators, welders, fitters, electricians, and subcontractors to ensure work aligns with drawings and specs.
• Ensure proper cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, drilling, machining and assembly of components.
• Interpret GA drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and P&IDs.
• Check dimensions, levels, alignment, welding quality, and overall fabrication quality.
• Coordinate with Design Engineer to resolve fabrication-related design issues and drawing discrepancies.
• Supervise fabrication of SS/MS tanks, structures, piping, conveyors, and machinery frames.
• Prepare and monitor fabrication schedules to meet timelines.
• Coordinate procurement of fabrication materials, welding consumables, hardware, and components.
• Conduct dimensional inspection to meet tolerances.
• Manage pre-assembly and trial assembly of machinery at workshop.
• Lead dismantling, packing, loading, site installation as required.
• Travel to customer sites for equipment installation, alignment, and commissioning.
• Supervise site teams and subcontractors and ensure safety and efficiency.
• Ensure proper machine alignment and mechanical assembly.
• Coordinate with electrical and automation teams during installation.

• Plan and supervise fabrication activities based on approved engineering drawings.
• Coordinate with fabricators, welders, fitters, electricians, and subcontractors to ensure work is completed as per drawings and specifications.
• Ensure proper cutting, fit-up, welding, grinding, drilling, machining, and assembly of components.
• Interpret and work from GA drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and P&IDs.

• Manage pre-assembly and trial assembly of machinery and equipment at the workshop.
• Lead dismantling, packing, loading, transportation, and site installation activities when required.
• Travel to customer sites for equipment installation, assembly, alignment, piping, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Supervise site teams and subcontractors and ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.
• Ensure proper machine alignment, leveling, coupling, belt/chain alignment, and mechanical assembly.
• Coordinate with electrical and automation teams during machine installation and commissioning.
• Identify and resolve site-related technical and execution issues.
• Maintain daily site progress reports, material requirements, manpower requirements, and installation status.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and customer requirements.
• Support final testing, trial runs, commissioning, and handover of equipment to the customer.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 15 years of relevant experience in fabrication, machinery assembly, equipment installation, or turnkey industrial projects.
• Strong practical knowledge of fabrication and mechanical assembly.
• Good understanding of MS/SS fabrication, TIG/MIG/ARC welding, sheet metal fabrication, structural fabrication, and piping.
• Ability to read and understand engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Experience with industrial machinery, tanks, conveyors, process equipment, or production lines will be preferred.
• Hands-on experience with machine alignment, leveling, fitting, assembly, and installation.
• Should be comfortable working at customer sites and travelling for project execution.
• Ability to manage fabricators, fitters, welders, helpers, and subcontractors.
