Job summary

John Cockerill, enablers of opportunities, is seeking an Assistant/Deputy Manager - Fabrication for Hedavali Workshop in India. The role focuses on supervising heavy fabrication activities, ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery per drawings and plans.

You will coordinate with Planning, Quality, Engineering, Stores and Maintenance to keep production efficient. The candidate should hold a Diploma/B.E./B.Tech.

Qualifications

• Diploma / B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in heavy fabrication, structural fabrication & equipment fabrication.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment and drawing interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and monitor daily fabrication activities per production priorities.
• Supervise fit-up, welding, gas cutting, grinding, assembly and finishing tasks.
• Allocate manpower and work fronts to meet daily/weekly targets.
• Ensure availability and proper use of raw materials, consumables, tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, WPS and specifications.
• Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Engineering, Stores and Maintenance.
• Monitor weld quality, dimensional accuracy and fabrication sequence.
• Ensure welders and operators follow approved procedures.
• Identify bottlenecks and take corrective actions to avoid delays.
• Maintain daily production records and progress reports.
• Ensure safe handling and movement of fabricated components.
• Implement 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement.

Job Purpose

To supervise and control heavy fabrication activities to achieve safe, high-qualityand productive fabrication as per approved drawings, production plans andidelivery schedules.

2. Key Result Area

Ensure fabrication work is completed as per drawings, specifications and qualitystandards

3. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and monitor daily fabrication activities as per production priorities.

• Ensure availability and proper utilization of raw materials, consumables, tools andequipment.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, WPS and applicablespecifications. Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Engineering, Storesand Maintenance for smooth execution.
• Monitor weld quality, dimensional accuracy, fit-up and fabrication sequence.
• Ensure welders and operators follow approved procedures and qualified practices.
• Identify bottlenecks and take corrective actions to avoid production delays.
• Control rework, rejection, material wastage and idle time.
• Maintain daily production records, manpower deployment and progress reports.
• Ensure proper handling, lifting and movement of fabricated components.
• Implement 5S, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure strict compliance with Safety procedures, PPE requirements and workpermits.
• Guide and develop fabrication workers and maintain discipline on the shop floor.

4. Qualification and Experience

The candidate should be an
Diploma / B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
5–10 years of experience in heavy fabrication, structural fabrication& equipment fabrication

• Thorough Knowledge on Mechanical Equipment’s.
• Thorough knowledge on reading of drawings
