Job summary

Uniserve is seeking an organised Export Operator to coordinate international shipments from start to finish. The role involves handling exports, customs, and related admin across global markets within a fast-paced team.

The position requires 4–5 years in linehaul/export operations or freight forwarding, strong English communication, and MS Office proficiency. Shift: Wednesday–Sunday, 6:00am–2:30pm; permanent night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Logistics, or a related field.
• 4–5 years experience in Linehaul, Customs, Export Operations, or Freight Forwarding.
• 2–3 years experience within logistics, supply chain, freight, or ecommerce environments.
• Strong understanding of international freight forwarding processes and customs documentation.
• Knowledge of export procedures, AWBs, customs entries, CMRs, T1s, and GMRs.
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent attention to detail with accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Create and upload shipment jobs into the internal freight and ecommerce management system.
• Prepare and issue Air Waybills (AWBs) and ensure shipment data accuracy.
• Complete customs entries and declarations per HMRC and international requirements.
• Send pre-alerts and shipping docs to customers, agents, and carriers.
• Liaise with hauliers regarding collections, deliveries, and updates.
• Prepare and manage CMRs, T1 documents, and GMRs per UK/EU regulations.
• Verify, code, and process supplier invoices for accuracy.
• Maintain records and support day-to-day operations of the Linehaul & Customs team.
• Assist with additional tasks and projects as required.

Job description

Uniserve is looking for an organised and detail-focused Export Operator to join our Linehaul & Customs team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with freight forwarding, customs, or ecommerce logistics experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coordinating international shipments from start to finish.

Working closely with customers, carriers, hauliers, and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring export shipments are processed accurately, compliantly, and efficiently. You'll be responsible for handling a variety of operational and administrative tasks that support the successful movement of goods across international markets.

This role operates on a Wednesday - Sunday shift pattern, with working hours from 6:00am - 2:30pm. Applicants must be comfortable working permanent night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and upload shipment jobs into the internal freight and ecommerce management system.
• Prepare and issue Air Waybills (AWBs), ensuring all shipment information is accurate and compliant.
• Complete customs entries and declarations in line with HMRC and international trade requirements.
• Send pre-alerts and shipping documentation to customers, agents, and carriers.
• Liaise with hauliers regarding collections, deliveries, shipment updates, and transport-related queries.
• Prepare and manage CMRs, T1 documents, and GMRs in accordance with UK and EU regulations.
• Verify, code, and process supplier invoices, ensuring rates and job costs are accurate before submission.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation across all shipments.
• Support the wider Linehaul & Customs team with day-to-day operational and administrative requirements.
• Assist with additional tasks and projects as required.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Logistics, or a related field.
• 4-5 years experience in a Linehaul, Customs, Export Operations, or Freight Forwarding role.
• 2 -3 years experience within logistics, supply chain, freight, or ecommerce environments.
• Strong understanding of international freight forwarding processes and customs documentation.
• Knowledge of export procedures, AWBs, customs entries, CMRs, T1s, and GMRs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
