Job summary

Perfetti Van Melle India invites applications for a Plant Utility Lead to manage utility operations and maintenance teams, ensuring safe, reliable and uninterrupted supply of utilities for manufacturing. You will oversee boiler & steam, air compressors, chillers, HVAC, cooling towers, DG/electrical utilities and water treatment systems.

Candidates should have 3–6 years in Plant Utility within manufacturing, with exposure to SCADA/PLC-based monitoring, energy management and compliance with GMP,

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of experience in Plant Utility within manufacturing.
  • FMCG exposure preferred.
  • Experience with energy management and compliance with safety & ISO standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage plant utility operations and maintenance with a team of operators & technicians to ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted availability of utilities for manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure optimum performance and reliability of critical utility systems including boiler & steam, air compressors, chillers/refrigeration, HVAC, cooling towers, DG/electrical utilities, water treatment systems, ETP/STP and other plant utilities.
  • Prepare and manage the energy budget, maintenance & repair, AMC, spares, consumables and other operational requirements while maintaining optimum inventory levels and cost control.
  • Monitor and deliver KPIs such as Safety, Utility Availability, Energy Consumption, Utility Cost, Production Support, GMP and Environmental & legal Compliance.
  • Deploy and ensure adherence to Safety protocols and systems (HIRA, PTW, LOTO, interlocks).
  • Plan and execute utility shutdowns with Production and Engineering teams to minimize impact on manufacturing.
  • Execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of utility equipment and ensure timely restoration of critical utilities.
  • Monitor and optimize consumption of electricity, steam, compressed air, water and other utilities; drive energy conservation initiatives.
  • Identify and implement advanced technology solutions, automation and monitoring to improve reliability and cost.
  • Collaborate with Plant Projects team for utility-related projects, capacity enhancements and new equipment installation.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Safety, Warehouse and other plant functions to support GMP/Food Safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, licenses, inspections and regulatory standards related to utility systems.

Job description

Role & responsibilities:

  • To lead and manage plant utility operations and maintenance with the team of operators & technicians to ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted availability of utilities for manufacturing operations.
  • To ensure optimum performance and reliability of critical utility systems including boiler & steam, air compressors, chillers/refrigeration, HVAC, cooling towers, DG/electrical utilities, water treatment systems, ETP/STP and other plant utilities, as applicable.
  • To prepare and manage the Energy budget, Maintenance & repair, AMC, spares, consumables, fuel, chemicals and other operational requirements, while maintaining optimum inventory levels and cost control.
  • To monitor and deliver key functional performance indicators including Safety, Utility Availability, Energy Consumption, Utility Cost, Production Support, GMP and Environmental & legal Compliance in line with or better than agreed targets.
  • To deploy and ensure adherence to Safety protocols and systems, including HIRA, Permit to Work, equipment guarding, interlocks, LOTO and timely closure of unsafe-condition/unsafe-act observations.
  • To plan and execute utility shutdowns in coordination with Production and Engineering teams, ensuring minimum impact on manufacturing operations.
  • To execute and monitor preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of utility equipment as per approved plans and ensure timely restoration of critical utilities.
  • To monitor and optimize consumption of electricity, steam, compressed air, water, fuel and other utilities and drive initiatives for energy conservation, sustainability and reduction in utility cost.
  • To identify and implement innovative and advanced technology solutions, automation and monitoring systems to improve utility reliability, efficiency and operating cost.
  • To work closely with the Plant Projects team for execution of utility-related projects, capacity enhancement, new equipment installation, engineering modifications and infrastructure development.
  • To collaborate with Production, Quality, Safety, Warehouse and other plant functions to ensure utilities are available as per operational requirements and support GMP/Food Safety standards.
  • To ensure compliance with all applicable statutory requirements, licenses, inspections and regulatory standards related to utility systems and equipment.

Preferred candidate profile

Work experience in Electrical utilities (DG, LT/HT, ACB, VCB) in FMCG industry.

Exposure to SCADA/PLC-based utility monitoring and automation

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Boiler & Steam systems, Compressors & Compressed Air, Chillers/Refrigeration, HVAC, Cooling Towers, DG sets and electrical utilities.
  • Knowledge of RO/Water Treatment, ETP/STP and associated utility systems.
  • Understanding of energy management, energy conservation and utility cost optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of HIRA, PTW, LOTO, machine safety, equipment guarding and interlocks
  • Knowledge of applicable statutory requirements and safety standards related to boilers, pressure systems, electrical systems, refrigeration and utilities.
  • Understanding of GMP, Food Safety, Environmental and ISO requirements applicable to utility operations.

Experience:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in Plant Utility
  • Must be from the manufacturing industry only

Candidates with work experience only in Maintenance & projects are not to be considered for this position.

Desirable: Exposure in the FMCG industry, but not restricted
