Estimation Engineer (Insulation, Scaffolding & Painting)
Position Summary
The ISSD Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for Insulation, Scaffolding, Painting (ISP), Fireproofing, and related services for EPC, plant maintenance, shutdown, turnaround, and brownfield projects. The role involves reviewing tender documents, performing quantity take -offs, developing cost estimates, coordinating with engineering, procurement, and operations teams, and preparing technical and commercial proposals that meet client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Review ITBs, tender documents, drawings, specifications, and project scope.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for insulation, scaffolding, painting, fireproofing, passive fire protection, and associated industrial services.
- Perform quantity take construction drawings. -offs from P&IDs, isometric drawings, general arrangement drawings, and
- Estimate direct and indirect costs, including labor, materials, equipment, consumables, subcontractors, logistics, and overheads.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost breakdowns, manpower histograms, and pricing schedules.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, planning, HSE, QA/QC, and construction teams during bid preparation. Conduct site visits and attend pre potential risks. -bid meetings to assess project requirements and identify
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals, ensuring compliance with client specifications and contractual requirements.
- Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities to improve bid competitiveness.
- Maintain estimation databases, productivity norms, and historical cost records.
- Support project handover by providing detailed estimate documents and cost assumptions to the project execution team.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards, and client requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5 -N10 years of estimation experience in EPC, industrial construction, or plant maintenance projects.
- Proven experience in insulation, scaffolding, painting, fireproofing, shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance contracts.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial insulation systems, scaffolding design and planning, protective coating systems, and passive fireproofing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and work packages.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and estimation software.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, SAP, or other ERP/project management systems is an advantage.
- Experience with productivity norms, material take -offs, cost analysis, and resource planning.
