Job summary

TIE-UPS Manpower Consultants seeks a senior Substation Design Engineer to execute and manage engineering activities for GIS/AIS substations up to 765 kV, ensuring compliance with project specs and standards.

You will lead multi-project execution, coordinate with design and drafting teams, review calculations and drawings, and drive timely procurement and commissioning, with strong focus on schedule, quality, and cost targets.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in Substation Design and multi-project execution.
• Proven expertise in GIS/AIS substations up to 765 kV.
• Strong knowledge of standards and coordination for HV substations.

Responsibilities

• Execute and manage engineering activities for GIS/AIS substations up to 765 kV.
• Oversee engineering execution within schedule, quality, and cost targets.
• Align deliverables with project schedules and conduct review meetings.
• Review design calculations, drawings, and client submissions for quality.
• Lead Primary/Secondary Design, Earthing, Cabling, SCADA, and Protection systems.
• Drive vendor evaluation, clarifications, manufacturing clearance, and procurement support.
• Mentor Design Engineers and Drafting Teams; encourage capability development.
• Support BOQ review, tender engineering, billing, and invoicing with project teams.
• Utilize MS Office, ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD for design validation and reporting.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute and manage engineering activities for GIS / AIS Substation projects up to 765 kV, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Oversee complete engineering execution within defined schedule, quality, and cost targets to achieve successful project delivery.
• Align engineering deliverables with overall project schedules, conduct periodic review meetings, and ensure timely closure of action items.
• Review and approve design calculations, engineering drawings, technical documents, client approvals, andsubmissions to maintain quality and adherence to timelines.
• Lead and coordinate activities related to Primary Design, Secondary Design, Earthing, Cabling, SCADA, and Protection Systems for substation projects.
• Drive vendor evaluation, technical clarifications, manufacturing clearance, and material delivery coordination to ensure seamless project execution and timely procurement support.
• Guide and mentor Design Engineers and Drafting Teams, ensuring effective resource allocation, enhanced productivity
• continuous capability development.
• Support BOQ review, tender engineering activities, billing processes, and monthly invoicing requirements in coordination with project and commercial teams.
• Utilize engineering and planning tools such as MS Office, ETAP, PSCAD, CYMGRD, and Project Planning Tools for design validation, analysis, reporting, and project monitoring.

QUALIFICATION:

• B.E. / B. Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering

MINIMUM YEARS OFEXPERIENCE AND INDUSTRY PREFERENCE:

• 15+ years of experience in Substation Design and Multi-project Execution, preferably involving GIS / AIS Substations up to 765 kV.
• Proven expertise in managing end-to-end engineering activities across multiple substation projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of applicable standards, design practices, and coordination requirements associated with high-voltage substation projects.
