Job summary

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles in Oragadam is seeking a hands-on Engineer to manage HDT/MDT chassis assembly and End of Line operations at its plant. You will drive production targets and ensure first-time-right quality on the shop floor.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on and driven Engineer to manage HDT / MDT chassis assembly and End of Line operations at our Oragadam plant. The role is responsible for achieving production targets, ensuring first-time-right quality, managing manpower, and driving continuous improvement on the chassis and EOL shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Quality

• Oversee HDT and MDT chassis production and EOL operations end to end
• Achieve daily and monthly production targets on chassis assembly and EOL line
• Ensure vehicles meet highest standards of quality and efficiency
• Responsible for vehicle roll out with targeted FTT (First Time Through)
• Upkeep Quality Management Systems IATF, OHSAS, EMS
• Ensure 5S standards and discipline on shop floor at all times

Manpower & Shop Floor Management

• Plan and manage manpower for chassis and EOL operations
• Train and guide blue collar associates on the shop floor
• Optimize utilization of men and equipment for maximum efficiency
• Maintain production tools and equipment as per schedule

Productivity & Continuous Improvement

• Implement innovative techniques to improve productivity
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks on chassis and EOL line
• Drive continuous improvement and Kaizen initiatives

EOL Specific

• Ensure vehicle clearance within targeted throughput time
• Monitor electrical faults and quality issues at EOL
• Ensure smooth vehicle handover with minimal dwell time

Scheduling & Systems

• Apply knowledge of scheduling and sequencing for chassis and EOL operations
• Work with Manufacturing Execution Systems SAP or MES
• Monitor plan vs actual and take corrective actions
• Prepare daily production reports and elevate issues to management

Knowledge & Skills Required

• Hands-on experience in HDT / MDT chassis assembly and EOL operations
• Knowledge of chassis components, sub-assembly process, and equipment
• Troubleshooting experience in chassis and EOL process
• Familiarity with IATF, OHSAS, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing
• Knowledge of scheduling and sequencing for assembly operations
• Exposure to SAP or MES systems on shop floor
• Strong problem-solving ability on shop floor
