Job summary

Chemplast Sanmar in Karapakkam, Chennai is seeking a hands-on supervisor for assembly/production operations. The role focuses on safety, daily planning versus execution, quality, and team motivation. You will train operators, update SOPs, ensure adherence to processes and drive continuous improvements.

The ideal candidate has extensive supervisory experience in manufacturing, ability to lead diverse teams, and a data-driven approach. Shifts six days a week may be required.

• Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards across assembly operations.
• Production Management: Drive Daily Plan vs Actual performance focusing on delivery, quality and efficiency.
• Lead a team of workmen with discipline, productivity and motivation.
• Coach operators and improve skills through structured training programs.
• Maintain and update the Skill Matrix to strengthen workforce capabilities.
• Quality & Customer Focus: Aim for zero customer complaints through robust processes.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement CAPA using QC tools for non-conformance.
• Monitor cell efficiency/utilisation and implement loss elimination initiatives.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing practices, Kaizen and continuous improvement.
• Technical Expertise in seal assembly processes and related production systems.
• Support cross-functional problem solving and technical improvements.

Job description

Experience in Production operations, preferably in engineering or manufacturing industries.

Location: Karapakkam, Chennai

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards and promote a culture of safety across assembly operations.
• Production Management -Drive Daily Plan vs Actual performance with focus on delivery, quality, and efficiency.
• Ensure process adherence, update SOPs where required, and maintain all documentation. Lead a team of workmen with focus on discipline, productivity, and motivation.
• Conduct regular assessments of assembly operators, coach them, and improve skills through structured training programs.
• Maintain and update the Skill Matrix to strengthen workforce capabilities.
• Quality & Customer Focus - Aim for ZERO customer complaints by ensuring robust assembly processes and defect-free output.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement CAPA using QC tools for any non-conformance or customer issue.
• Efficiency & Continuous Improvement Monitor cell efficiency/utilisation, identify bottlenecks, and implement loss elimination initiatives.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing practices, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Technical Expertise Possess strong knowledge in seal assembly processes and related production systems.
• Support cross-functional problem solving and technical improvements.
• Candidate Profile: Hands-on experience in assembly/production operations with at least 35 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage multicultural and cross-functional teams.
• Data-driven, result-oriented, and courageous decision-maker with strong accountability. Excellent communication skills, teamwork orientation, and a customer-first mindset. Flexible to work in shifts, six days a week.
