Job summary

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles in Oragadam is seeking a hands-on Engineer to oversee HDT chassis production on the shop floor. You will manage production targets, supervise manpower, and drive quality and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure efficient assembly of heavy-duty trucks.

The role requires strong knowledge of chassis components, SAP/MES systems, and 5S/Lean practices, with the ability to train blue-collar staff and sustain disciplined operations under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HDT chassis production process end to end
• Achieve daily and monthly production targets on the chassis assembly line
• Ensure vehicles meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency
• Adhere to and sustain high standard process and product quality
• Upkeep Quality Management Systems IATF, OHSAS, EMS
• Manage and plan manpower for chassis production operations
• Train and guide blue collar associates on the shop floor
• Ensure 5S standards and discipline are maintained at all times
• Optimize utilization of men and equipment
• Implement innovative techniques to improve productivity
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks on the chassis line
• Drive continuous improvement and Kaizen initiatives
• Implement new processes and techniques for efficiency enhancement
• Work with Manufacturing Execution Systems SAP or MES
• Maintain production tools and equipment as per schedule
• Monitor plan vs actual and take corrective actions

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on and driven Engineer to oversee HDT (Heavy Duty Truck) chassis production operations at our Oragadam plant. The role is responsible for achieving production targets, managing manpower, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Quality

• Oversee HDT chassis production process end to end
• Achieve daily and monthly production targets on the chassis assembly line
• Ensure vehicles meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency
• Adhere to and sustain high standard process and product quality
• Upkeep Quality Management Systems IATF, OHSAS, EMS

Manpower & Shop Floor Management

• Manage and plan manpower for chassis production operations

• Hands-on experience in chassis assembly or heavy vehicle production
• Knowledge of chassis components, assembly process, and equipment
• Familiarity with IATF, 5S, Lean Manufacturing
• Exposure to SAP or MES systems
• Strong shop floor problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage and motivate blue collar workforce
