Job summary

Exide Industries Limited seeks a Tools & Moulds- Plastics Engineer to commission and maintain plastic injection moulds, aligning with plant schedules. You will oversee tooling & material fulfilment and ensure mould uptime for daily production.

The role requires a Plastics Diploma and 12+ years of relevant experience, focusing on cost-effective moulding, vendor management, and process optimisation in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Plastics (CIPET/NTTF/GTTC or equivalent).
• 12+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Commission and maintain plastic injection moulds at the moulder end.
• Optimize molding parameters (tonnage, cycle time, net wt., shot wt.) and provide input for costings.
• Monitor mould preventive maintenance and mould restoration.
• Guide suppliers on resolving production and quality issues.
• Ensure uptime of all moulds required for daily production.
• Plan and allocate parts as per monthly plant schedules.
• Collect RM requirements and ensure RM adequacy at moulders.
• Ensure timely supply of parts per production plan daily.
• Conduct vendor visits to improve delivery and quality.
• Develop and monitor safety stock mechanism at vendor end.

Position: Tools & Moulds- Plastics Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

This profile is required to commission and maintain the plastic injection moulds at moulder end and to ensure the supply of moulded parts as per the Exide plant schedule. Role is bi-furcated in Tooling & Material fulfilment front with following KPI’s -

On Tooling Front

• New plastic injection moulds commissioning
• Molding parameters optimization (m/c tonnage, cycle time, net wt. & shot wt.) and input for competitive costing
• Mould preventive maintenance monitoring & mould restoration
• Guiding the suppliers on resolution of day to day production & quality issues
• Ensuring uptime of all moulds required for daily production
• Ensuring supplier readiness on infra. required for new model implementation
• Planning & allocation of parts as per monthly plant schedules
• Collecting the RM requirements from moulders and sending to HO Commercial and ensuring RM adequacy at moulder end all the times
• Ensuring timely supply of parts as per production plan on daily basis
• Close monitoring of Share of business v/s delivery performance
• Conducting frequent vendor visits to focus on Delivery & Quality improvement
• To conduct fortnightly meetings with critical vendors at plant and resolve issues
• To develop & monitor the safety stock (RM & BOP) mechanism at vendor end
• Monitoring of vendor capacity and ensuring 100% on time capacity
• Constantly explore & implement new avenues of cost savings
• Preparation for statutory & internal audits w.r.t Purchase function

Experience & Qualifications:
