Job summary

Balkrishna Industries (BKT) is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to execute preventive and predictive maintenance across tyre manufacturing equipment, aiming for maximum uptime and production continuity.

The role requires diagnosing faults, planning shutdowns, and driving TPM, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives while ensuring safe operations and reliable equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Ideal candidates have 6–10 years of relevant maintenance experience.
• Experience in tyre, rubber, automotive or continuous manufacturing preferred.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts and attend plant emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to maximise uptime.
• Attend mechanical breakdowns, troubleshoot faults, and minimise MTTR.
• Monitor MTBF, equipment availability, and maintenance compliance.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain various plant equipment and utilities, as applicable.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and rotating equipment issues.
• Plan shutdowns, overhauls, alignment, installation, and commissioning.
• Use condition-monitoring methods (vibration, temp, oil, noise, visual) to identify failures.
• Prepare maintenance work orders, history, checklists, and spare-part plans in SAP/CMMS.
• Control spares, consumables, tools, and maintenance costs; avoid stock-outs.
• Support TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and reliability-improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, permit-to-work, EHS, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with Production and cross-functional teams for maintenance windows.
• Guide technicians and contractors; verify job quality and safety.

Role & responsibilities

• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for tyre manufacturing equipment to maximise uptime and production continuity.
• Attend mechanical breakdowns, troubleshoot faults, restore equipment safely, and minimise MTTR.
• Monitor and improve MTBF, equipment availability, maintenance compliance, and repeat-failure trends.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for chronic failures.
• Maintain mixers, mills, calenders, extruders, bead machines, tyre-building machines, conveyors, presses, curing equipment, material-handling systems, and associated utilities, as applicable.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, bearing, gearbox, coupling, chain, belt, piping, pump, valve, and rotating-equipment issues.
• Plan and execute shutdown, overhauling, alignment, installation, commissioning, and modification activities.
• Use condition-monitoring methods such as vibration, temperature, oil, noise, and visual inspection to identify potential failures.
• Prepare maintenance work orders, equipment history, checklists, spare-part requirements, and technical reports in SAP/CMMS or equivalent systems.
• Control critical spares, consumables, tools, and maintenance costs while preventing stock-outs.
• Support TPM, 5S, Kaizen, failure elimination, energy saving, and reliability-improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with permit-to-work, LOTO, machine guarding, statutory, EHS, and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with Production and cross-functional teams for maintenance windows, trials, and process improvements.
• Guide technicians and contractors, verify job quality, and ensure safe work completion.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Engineer: typically 36 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
• Senior Engineer: typically 6–10 years of relevant experience, including ownership of maintenance activities or team coordination.
• Experience in tyre, rubber, automotive, process, or continuous manufacturing is preferred; direct tyre manufacturing maintenance experience will be an advantage.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts and attend plant emergencies when required.
