Job summary

Samvith Technologies in Bengaluru seeks an experienced EHS Lead to establish and manage the Safety Management System. You will drive HIRA/JHA, risk control, and permit systems while ensuring ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 compliance across the site.

You will coordinate safety training, inspections, and audits, lead Safety Committee meetings, and promote waste reduction and sustainable practices within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in EHS/Safety, preferably in manufacturing.
• Degree or Diploma in relevant fields with safety focus.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement SMS across the facility.
• Conduct HIRA/JHA and risk assessments.
• Implement Work Permit System (Hot work, Confined space, Height work).
• Establish and enforce LOTO procedures.
• Manage fire safety systems and conduct drills.
• Ensure environmental compliance including hazardous waste handling and documentation.
• Maintain Hazardous Waste records and EPR compliance.
• Conduct safety training and lead Safety Committee meetings.
• Drive waste minimization and sustainability initiatives (RRR).

Job description

Role Purpose

To establish and implement a Safety Management System (SMS) from scratch, ensuring compliance with statutory, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 requirements, and promoting a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop & implement SOPs, emergency preparedness plans & safety improvement initiatives.
• Conduct Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA/JHA)
• Implement Work Permit System (Hot work, Confined space, Height work)
• Establish and enforce LOTO procedures
• Manage fire safety systems and conduct emergency mock drills
• Ensure environmental compliance including hazardous waste handling, storage, disposal, and documentation
• Maintain and manage Hazardous Waste records (Form 3, Form 4 returns, and Form 5 annual reports as applicable)
• Ensure compliance with EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) requirements (Plastic Waste / E-waste / Battery Waste, as applicable)
• Conduct safety training, inductions, and awareness programs
• Organize and lead Safety Committee meetings
• Ensure compliance with Factory Act/OSHW Code and other statutory requirements
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Implement and maintain ISO 45001 (OH&S) and ISO 14001 (EMS)
• Conduct inspections, internal audits and support certification audits
• Drive waste minimization and sustainability initiatives by promoting RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) practices and efficient resource utilization.

Certifications (Good to have)

NEBOSH / IOSH / ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Lead/Internal Auditor

Qualifications

Degree/Diploma in Engineering/Science with Diploma in Industrial Safety

Experience

8+ years in EHS/Safety, Engineering Manufacturing industry is preferred
