Job summary

NGC Transmission seeks an EHS professional to drive safety, health, and environmental compliance across production and facilities.

You will lead statutory compliance, risk assessments, incident investigations, and contractor safety, while coordinating audits and CAPA with a strong emphasis on training and awareness.

Role includes developing SOPs, conducting inspections, and maintaining EHS documentation and reports for management review.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities
1. EHS Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act/Rules, AP Factory Rules, Environment Protection requirements, APPCB conditions, Fire Safety and other statutory requirements.
  • Maintain statutory registers, licences, records, inspection reports and compliance calendars.
  • Coordinate with government authorities, inspectors and external agencies during inspections and audits.
  • Track closure of statutory and audit observations.
2. Safety Management
  • Conduct daily/weekly workplace safety inspections and identify unsafe acts/conditions.
  • Conduct HIRA/JSA/JHA for production, maintenance, material handling and other activities.
  • Develop and implement SOPs, safety procedures, work permits and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor PPE compliance, machine guarding, electrical safety, LOTO, working at height, hot work, confined space and material handling.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe incidents and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Maintain and analyse TRIR, LTIFR, near-miss and incident statistics.
3. Environmental Management
  • Monitor compliance with APPCB Consent/CTE/CTO/CFO conditions.
  • Manage hazardous waste, solid waste, used oil, e-waste and other applicable waste streams.
  • Monitor wastewater, air emissions, noise and other environmental parameters as applicable.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring through approved laboratories/agencies.
  • Support green-belt development and environmental compliance documentation.
4. Emergency Preparedness
  • Conduct fire and emergency drills.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate with Fire & Emergency Response teams.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, emergency exits, first-aid facilities and other emergency equipment are periodically inspected.
  • Coordinate mock drills and prepare reports/action plans.
5. Training & Awareness
  • Conduct EHS induction for new employees, contract workers and visitors.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and periodic safety training.
  • Develop training modules covering PPE, fire safety, LOTO, chemical handling, emergency response, first aid, work permits, etc.
  • Maintain training and competency records.
6. Contractor Safety
  • Ensure contractor EHS compliance before and during work.
  • Verify contractor safety documents, manpower competency, PPE and work permits.
  • Conduct contractor safety meetings and inspections.
  • Monitor high-risk activities carried out by contractors.
7. Audit & Management Systems
  • Support implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
  • Conduct internal EHS audits and coordinate customer/third-party audits.
  • Prepare CAPA and ensure timely closure.
  • Maintain EHS documentation and management reports.
8. EHS Reporting
  • Prepare daily/monthly EHS reports and dashboards.
  • Monitor EHS KPIs and identify improvement areas.
  • Present EHS performance, incidents, risks and action status to management.

Preferred Qualifications

Mandatory/Preferred:

  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering, preferably Mechanical/Electrical/Environmental, with recognized Safety qualification [SBTET from state technical board]- Mandatory
  • Industrial Safety Diploma / PG Diploma in Industrial Safety preferred
  • NEBOSH / IOSH certification is an advantage
  • ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 Internal Auditor/Lead Auditor certification preferred

Qualification : B.E./B. Tech with Diploma in Safety-SBTET
