ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Engineer/Senior Engineer/Manager to drive the end-to-end execution of outdoor lighting and electrical infrastructure projects. The incumbent will be responsible for overall project planning including, GTP and design approvals, contractor management, lux level measurement, technical coordination, statutory and client approvals, progress monitoring, documentation, billing and successful project handover/closure.
The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of lighting fundamentals & strong hands-on experience in execution of outdoor lighting projects including automated street lighting, highway lighting projects, preferably involving Government and public-sector clients. The role requires a combination of project expertise, electrical engineering knowledge, stakeholder management capability and strong technical proficiency in lighting systems and design software.
Role & responsibilities
1. End-to-End Project Management
- Manage projects from Letter of Intent (LOI) / Work Order award through project completion and final handover.
- Achieve the project execution milestones and internal progress and billing targets.
- Attend project kick-off meetings with client, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure timely execution of projects in accordance with approved technical specifications, timelines, safety, quality standards and contractual requirements.
- To do overall project documentation throughout the project lifecycle (from award till final handover to client).
2. Contractor Management & Execution
- Lead contractor identification, evaluation, selection and finalization in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors and site teams to ensure effective manpower mobilization and deployment at site.
- Ensure contractors fulfil all statutory requirements, labour laws & compliances
- Ensure that project activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements and applicable standards.
- Resolve site-level technical and execution issues in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
3. Client & Government Authority liaisoning
- Liaison effectively with client, Government departments (PWD, CPWD, MES, EESL, NHAI, Municipalities etc. and other relevant authorities), Power DISCOMs, consultants, statutory authorities and other external stakeholders to obtain timely approvals & facilitate smooth project execution.
- Maintain professional stakeholder relationships and ensure timely resolution of project-related concerns like ROW, Clearances etc.
4. Outdoor Lighting & Street Lighting Projects
- Manage execution of outdoor lighting projects, including Retrofitting of existing HPSV/MH Street Lights with LED, Highway Lighting, Tunnel Lighting, Faade & Building Lighting, Public Infrastructure Lighting, Smart/Automated Street Lighting within contractual timelines.
- Identification of faulty Street lights and timely rectification as per defined SLA (Service Level Agreement).
- Able to attend complaints calls 24x7 and direct teams to handle rectification of faults in Poles, Cables, Street lights, Control Panel etc. timely & effectively.
- Ensure lighting installations meet specified illumination levels, technical requirements and project specifications.
- Coordinate installation and commissioning activities for lighting systems and associated infrastructure.
5. Technical Engineering & Design
- Demonstrate sound technical knowledge of indoor and outdoor luminaire, poles, lighting systems and associated electrical infrastructure design and specifications.
- Interpret engineering drawings and understand lighting layouts, illumination requirements and lux levels.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Indian Standards (IS) and project-specific technical specifications.
- Review and coordinate technical drawings, layouts and engineering deliverables.
- Undertake or supervise - Electrical load calculations, Cable sizing, Feeder panel selection/design, Switchgear selection, Earthing arrangements, Lighting route planning, Duct and opening requirements, Fabrication structure requirements, Luminaire installation arrangements
6. Smart Lighting & Communication Systems
- Possess hands-on understanding of connectivity and communication technologies used in smart street-lighting systems.
- Should have knowledge of communication technologies such as: Zigbee, RF Mesh, Remote Management Systems, Smart Street-Light Communication Networks and its troubleshooting.
- Support integration and commissioning of remote monitoring and controlling systems for street-lighting infrastructure.
7. Lighting Design & Engineering Software
- Utilize relevant engineering and lighting-design software for project planning, design validation and technical coordination.
- Strong proficiency in one or more of the following softwares is preferred- DIALux, Revit, AutoCAD, AGi32
- Review lighting designs and layouts to ensure compliance with project specifications and required illumination levels.
8. Billing, Documentation & Project Closure
- Coordinate project billing activities and ensure timely submission of measurement and supporting documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive project records, technical documents, approvals, drawings and correspondence.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintain MIS of project progress, variations, approvals and completion activities.
- Coordinate final inspection, commissioning and project handover to the client.
- Ensure project documentation is complete and appropriately archived upon closure.
Preferred candidate profile
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in project execution, preferably within the EPC / Infrastructure / Electrical Projects sector.
- Demonstrable experience in execution of outdoor lighting, street lighting and/or highway lighting projects.
- Experience handling projects for Government / PSU / Institutional clients will be strongly preferred.
Candidates with experience working with PWD, CPWD, MES, EESL, NHAI, Municipalities or similar authorities will be preferred
