Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of automotive painting and coating processes.
• Paint defect analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of surface pretreatment and pretreatment processes.
• Understanding of spray painting and paint booth operations.
• Knowledge of paint thickness, viscosity, adhesion, and curing requirements.
• Knowledge of safety data sheets and MSDS basics.
• Familiarity with 5S and Kaizen principles.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools.

Job description

The Engineer - Paintshop role supports paint shop operations by maintaining process and quality compliance across pretreatment, painting, and coating activities. The position monitors critical process parameters, investigates paint defects, and contributes to corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pretreatment, primer, base coat, and topcoat processes, ensuring adherence to defined specifications

• Control critical process parameters, including viscosity, temperature, humidity, film thickness, and curing conditions

• Inspect and analyse paint defects such as orange peel, runs, blistering, peeling, scratches, and adhesion issues

• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring quality issues

• Monitor paint booths, spray equipment, coating processes, and paint consumption

• Coordinate with quality and maintenance teams on quality compliance, preventive maintenance, and equipment breakdowns

• Maintain production, quality, process monitoring, and management information system reports

• Support 5S, Kaizen, Lean, cost reduction, rejection reduction, and productivity improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Knowledge of automotive, ABS, and plastic painting and coating processes

• Paint defect analysis and troubleshooting skills

• Knowledge of surface preparation and pretreatment processes

• Understanding of spray painting and paint booth operations

• Knowledge of paint thickness, viscosity, adhesion, and curing requirements

• Basic paint chemistry knowledge and an understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets and Safety Data Sheets

• Knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, 5S, and Kaizen

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
