Job summary

Qualifications

• 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in paint shop operations and quality assurance, preferably automotive.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SOPs, Standardized Work Instructions, FMEA, Control Plans, documents.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA/8D reports for paint defects.
• Ensure adherence to parameters such as temperature, humidity, paint viscosity, oven curing temperatures, and DFT.
• Spearhead Kaizen and Lean initiatives to boost First Time Right (FTR) quality.
• Utilize 7 QC Tools and digital MIS to track quality metrics and warranty returns.
• Provide technical training to operators, inspectors, and junior engineers on new paint technologies and standards.

Job Description

1. Role Overview

• The Senior Engineer will lead and implement advanced quality control processes across the entire paint shop to ensure zero-defect production.

This role focuses on optimizing first-pass yield (FPY), minimizing rejections, reducing paint consumption, and ensuring strict compliance with industry standards like IATF 16949.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain SOPs, Standardized Work Instructions, FMEA, Control Plans, documents.


• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA/8D reports for any paint defects.


• Ensure strict adherence to critical parameters such as temperature, humidity, paint viscosity, oven curing temperatures, and Dry Film Thickness (DFT)


• Spearhead continuous improvement (Kaizen) and Lean Manufacturing projects to boost First Time Right (FTR) quality.


• Utilize 7 QC Tools, and digital MIS to track quality metrics and manage warranty returns.


• Provide technical training to operators, inspectors, and junior engineers regarding new paint technologies and quality standards.

3. Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Production Engineering


• Experience: 4 to 6 years of progressive experience in paint shop operations and quality assurance, ideally in the automotive sector

4. Technical Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of liquid painting, and robotic automated painting systems.


• Proficiency in Quality tools: FMEA and 7 QC Tools.


• Familiarity with ERP systems (like SAP) and data analysis software (MS Excel, MS word).


• Strong problem-solving, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• First Pass Yield (FPY): Maintain line targets.


• Defect Rate: Minimize Paint Usage Index and reduce rejections/rework to under established targets.


• Customer Complaints: Achieve zero major customer complaints regarding paint finish, gloss, or color matching.


• Audit Closures: 100% on-time closure of CAPA.
