Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a seasoned UPS technical support professional based in Kolkata to provide on-site and remote service for UPS, PDU, STS, and related power electronics. You will diagnose issues, perform maintenance, and guide customers on best practices while coordinating with teams and travelling to sites as needed.

The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of UPS experience, a Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Electronics, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in electrical/electronics engineering required.
• Minimum 8 years of UPS systems support experience.
• Experience with Vertiv products is a plus.
• Strong understanding of UPS technology and electrical principles.
• Familiarity with network protocols and remote monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

Responsible for providing on-site and remote technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution units (PDU), static transfer switches (STS), active harmonic filters (AHF), and other similar power electronics products. The role requires extensive knowledge of UPS systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure the reliability and performance of power systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site and remote support for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UPS systems.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues affecting UPS performance.
• Assist in the configuration and commissioning of new UPS installations.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on UPS systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including any repairs or replacements.
• Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
• Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of UPS systems.
• Prepare detailed reports of service visits, including diagnostic findings, actions taken, and recommendations for future maintenance.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of all service activities and customer interactions.
• Stay current with the latest developments in UPS technology and industry best practices.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in all service activities.

Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electronics engineering.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in UPS systems support or a related field.
• Experience with Vertiv products is preferable.
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronics principles and UPS technology.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing UPS systems.
• Familiarity with network protocols and remote monitoring tools.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Work Environment

The position may require travel to customer sites and may involve working in various environmental conditions. Flexibility to work outside regular business hours for emergency support and maintenance activities is required.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to travel as needed.
