Job summary

Assystem in India is seeking a Drainage / Hydrology Engineer with 5–10 years of proven experience to deliver end-to-end stormwater design across urban, industrial, and transport projects. You will independently plan, model, and optimize drainage systems using SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and related tools.

You will lead a team, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure code-compliant designs in line with Indian and international standards, delivering high-quality GFC drawings and robust documentation.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of proven experience in end-to-end drainage design across urban, industrial, highway, airport, seaport, and railway projects.
• Ability to independently plan, model, and optimize stormwater systems from catchment analysis to detailed design.
• Strong command of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools (SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SewerCAD/StormCAD, Civil 3D, QGIS, TUFLOW, MIKE, HY-8).
• Experience in rainfall–runoff estimation and flood modelling using standard methods.
• Deliver code-compliant designs (CWC, Indian, and international standards) for culverts, bridges, and flood protection works.
• Track record of producing high-quality, coordinated GFC drawings with QA/QC.
• Experience in technical reporting, BOQs, cost estimation, and tender documentation.
• Lead and mentor teams to achieve on-time, high-quality delivery with effective stakeholder management.

Job Description – Drainage / Hydrology Engineer Position

• Postgraduate in Hydrology / Environmental Engineering (or equivalent) with 5-10 years of proven experience delivering end-to-end drainage design solutions across urban, industrial, highway, airport, seaport, and railway projects.


• Demonstrated ability to independently plan, model, and optimize stormwater systems, from catchment analysis and concept stage through to detailed design and GFC deliverables.


• Strong command of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools (SWMM, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, SewerCAD/StormCAD, Civil 3D, QGIS, TUFLOW, MIKE, HY-8), applied to solve complex drainage challenges.


• Proven expertise in rainfall–runoff estimation and flood modelling using standard methods (SCS, CWC UGH, Rational Method), with clear and defensible design assumptions.


• Ability to deliver code‑compliant designs (CWC, Indian, and international standards) for culverts, bridges, river training works, flood protection systems, and rainwater harvesting and reuse networks.


• Track record of producing high-quality, coordinated GFC drawings (plans, L‑sections, cross‑sections, GA details) with strict adherence to QA/QC standards.


• Strong experience in technical reporting, BOQs, cost estimation, and tender documentation, ensuring accuracy and constructability.


• Capable of reviewing and challenging client/contractor submissions, resolving design conflicts, and driving timely approvals with complete and coordinated deliverables.


• Ensure minimal design‑related changes during construction through robust first‑pass design, proactive risk identification, and interdisciplinary coordination.


• Lead and mentor teams to achieve on‑time, high-quality delivery under demanding project schedules.


• Effective communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders and multidisciplinary interfaces.


• Practical exposure to site conditions and execution, ensuring designs are realistic and implementable.


• Experience in international/overseas projects, code knowledge is an added advantage.
