Job summary

Assystem in India seeks a Hydraulic Modeller to develop and optimise water distribution and sewerage models. You will calibrate models, analyse system performance, and provide design recommendations for master plans and rehabilitation projects.

The role requires experience in hydraulic modelling of water networks and utility projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and use tools like WaterGEMS, InfoWorks, GIS, and CAD to deliver scalable solutions for urban infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Civil/Water Resources or related field required.
• 3–8 years' experience in hydraulic modelling of water supply and sewerage systems.
• Experience in municipal infrastructure and master planning desirable.
• Strong modelling, calibration and data integration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and manage hydraulic models for water and sewer networks.
• Perform network analysis: pressure, flow, storage, pumping, capacity.
• Calibrate and validate models with field/SCADA data.
• Assess performance under growth, climate and resilience scenarios.
• Conduct water supply studies: demand forecasting, reservoir sizing, pump analysis.
• Conduct sewerage studies: dry weather flow, infiltration, capacity evaluation.
• Integrate GIS/asset data into hydraulic models.
• Support master plans, feasibility studies, and technical reports.

Job Description

Role Summary

The Hydraulic Modeller will be responsible for the development, calibration, analysis, and optimization of water supply and sewerage network models to support master planning, design, rehabilitation, and operational improvement projects. The role involves hydraulic modelling, capacity assessment, system performance evaluation, and preparation of technical recommendations for utility and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and manage hydraulic models for water distribution and sewerage collection systems.
• Perform network analysis for pressure, flow, velocity, storage, pumping, and system capacity assessments.
• Conduct model calibration and validation using field data, SCADA records, flow monitoring, and operational data.
• Evaluate existing and future system performance under growth, demand, and climate resilience scenarios.
• Undertake water supply studies including demand forecasting, network optimization, reservoir sizing, pump station analysis, and pressure management.
• Undertake sewerage studies including dry weather flow analysis, infiltration/inflow assessment, surcharge analysis, and capacity evaluation.
• Integrate GIS, survey, asset, and utility data into hydraulic models.
• Identify network bottlenecks and recommend upgrade, rehabilitation, and expansion measures.
• Support preparation of master plans, feasibility studies, detailed designs, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including water, wastewater, GIS, civil, and environmental engineers.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Master's Degree in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering preferred.

Experience

• 3-8 years of relevant experience in hydraulic modelling of water supply and sewerage systems.
• Experience in municipal infrastructure, utility master planning, smart city, airport, industrial, or urban development projects is desirable.
