Job summary

Indiana Group in Mumbai is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and analysis of conveyor systems and bulk material handling equipment, ensuring safety, reliability, and IS code compliance.

You will prepare GA drawings, review fabrication drawings and connection details, and coordinate with mechanical, production, procurement, and quality teams to drive project execution. 8+ years of experience required.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• 8+ years of structural design/analysis experience, preferably in steel fabrication.
• Experience with conveyor systems and bulk handling projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop structural components for conveyor systems and bulk material handling equipment, including load calculations and detailing.
• Prepare and review GA drawings, structural fabrication drawings, connection details, and erection drawings.
• Perform structural analysis using STAAD.Pro, Tekla Structural Designer, or equivalent tools per IS codes and project specs.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of structural calculations, drawings and reports, adhering to standards and quality.

Job Purpose

To undertake structural design and engineering activities for conveyor systems and bulk material handling equipment, ensuring structural integrity, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable engineering standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop structural components for conveyor systems and bulk material handling equipment, including structural calculations, design concepts, load calculations, and member sizing. Coordinate with mechanical design, project engineering, production, fabrication, procurement, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and smooth project execution.
• Prepare and review General Arrangement (GA) drawings, structural fabrication drawings, connection details, and erection drawings.
• Perform structural analysis and design using software such as STAAD.Pro, Tekla Structural Designer, or equivalent tools, applying relevant Indian Standards (IS codes) and project-specific requirements.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of structural calculations, drawings, design reports, and engineering documentation in accordance with applicable standards and quality requirements.
• Review site-related technical issues, resolve design discrepancies, recommend appropriate engineering solutions, and support structural modifications arising during project execution.

Required Skills and Experience

• Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience in structural design and analysis, preferably in structural steel fabrication, conveyor systems, or bulk material handling projects.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of structural steel design, analysis, and detailing.
• Proficiency in STAAD.Pro and familiarity with other structural analysis and design software.
• Ability to read and interpret structural fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and connection details.
• Knowledge of applicable Indian Standards (IS codes) and structural design requirements.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, equipment layouts, loading conditions, and project requirements.
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective planning, prioritization, and time management.
