Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in India is seeking a skilled engineer for gasoline engine optimization and calibration, focusing on emissions, drivability, and after-treatment integration.

The role requires knowledge of INCA, Matlab/Python, and engine systems, with 2–4 years of experience in MPFI engine development, calibration to SOP, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of engine architecture.
• Basic understanding of combustion system and emission control.
• Knowledge of calibration softwares - INCA and other data acquisition tools.
• Basic coding skills in Matlab and /or Python.
• Knowledge of vehicle subsystems which affect performance.
• Knowledge of steady state engine development on engine bench.
• Knowledge of EMS system component selection and evaluation methods.
• Knowledge of vehicle calibration, comfort functions, drivability, IOBD etc.
• Understanding of intake, exhaust, cooling and fuel system interfaces on engine performance and emissions.
• Failure analysis, root cause analysis.
• Should have worked in at least one MPFI engine development program from start of calibration to SOP.
• Awareness of emission cycles, test procedures, various norms and regulation.
• Good communication skills.
• Willingness to work as a team in highly dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Gasoline engine optimization involving steady state performance and emission development.
• Gasoline vehicle calibration including emissions development, drivability, and cold start.
• Emission & performance robustness and homologation trials for engine type approval.
• Develop competency on methodologies and tools calibration development.
• Liaise with EMS supplier and other key system suppliers for system selection and optimization.
• Liaise with CFT such as Vehicle Integration, NVH, Electricals, Performance simulation, Engine development centre, Reliability and Service.
• Plan for day-to-day calibration activities and maintain a project tracker.
• Collect and collate benchmark data.
• Analyze test issues and perform root cause analysis using 8D or similar tools.

Job description

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

• a) Gasoline engine Optimization involving activities like, steady state performance and emission developement, including but not limited to combustion system, injection system, exhaust after-treatment system.
• b) Gasoline vehicle calibration involving, vehicle emission developement, vehicle calibration, drivability, environmental corrections, cold start and OBD
• c) Emission & Performance Robustness and homologation trials for engines type approval.
• d) Develop competency on methologies and tools calibration development
• e) Laise with EMS supplier and other key system suppliers for system selection and optimization.
• f) Laise with CFT like Vehicle Integration, NVH, Electricals, Performance simulation, Engine development centre, Reliability and Service for engineering targets delivery.
• g) Plan for the day-today calibration activities and maintain a project tracker.
• h) Collect & collate benchmark data.
• i) Analyse the issues arising out of test to confirm the design by root cause analysis of the problems / issues by using various problem solving techniques like Global 8D or other problem solving tools.
