Job summary

Caddam Technologies in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is seeking a Design Engineer for Engine Engineering to lead the design of diesel and petrol engine components and systems.

You will work with CAE, testing, manufacturing and quality teams, perform design calculations, and support DFMEA and design reviews. Proficiency in Creo/CATIA/UG-NX and GD&T is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in engine design.
• Knowledge of IC engines, diesel and petrol.
• Design and development of engine components such as cylinder head, block, crankshaft and piping.
• FIE/Exhaust after treatment basics and emission awareness.

Responsibilities

• Design primary responsibility is engine design.
• Collaborate with CAE, testing, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and aftermarket.
• Support DFMEA, design reviews, validation and verification.
• Coordinate with suppliers for component development and technical issues.
• Ensure emission, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Understand FEA/CAE and engine testing.

Design Engineer | Engine Engineering

Scope

Primary responsibility is Engine design

Technical experience

• Good knowledge of IC engines - diesel / petrol engines.
• Design and development of engine components such as cylinder head, cylinder block, crankshaft, connecting rod, piston, timing system, lubrication and cooling systems.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and metallurgy.
• Engine fluid knowledge Oil, Fuel and coolant
• Good knowledge in FIE system, EGR system, Air management and Exhaust after treatment systems
• Basic knowledge about engine emission India / Global
• Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-up and basic engineering analysis.
• Work closely with CAE, testing, manufacturing, quality, sourcing and aftermarket
• Collaboration experience with RnD and engine supplier network
• Support DFMEA, design reviews, validation and verification activities.
• Experience in field failures Root cause analysis and implement design improvements.

Ensure designs meet cost, weight, performance, durability and reliability targets.

• Support prototype development, testing and production
• Coordinate with suppliers for component development and technical issues.
• Ensure compliance with relevant emission, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of FEA/CAE and engine testing.
• Basic understanding of NVH, thermal management, lubrication and combustion

Tools

• Proficiency in Creo / CATIA / UG-NX.
• Strong knowledge in 3D, 2D, GD&T and engineering specifications.
• Manage engineering changes through appropriate ECR/ECN processes.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis and DFM/DFA.
