We are seeking an Advanced Lead Engineer to join the Engine & Power Solutions Center of Excellence (COE) in Bangalore. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, validation, and optimization of diesel engine components and systems, leveraging strong expertise in mechanical design, structural analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA). The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering engineering solutions across the product lifecycle, including New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), productivity enhancement, cost optimization, and reliability improvement initiatives. Working in a global, cross‑functional environment, the engineer will collaborate closely with design, analysis, manufacturing, sourcing, and validation teams, as well as external engineering partners, to develop innovative and robust solutions that meet performance, quality, and business objectives. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates who are required to relocate to support the needs of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and validation of diesel engine components and subsystems to meet performance, reliability, cost, weight, and quality objectives.
- Translate customer, system, and regulatory requirements into technical specifications and robust engineering solutions.
- Execute detailed engineering activities including concept development, engineering calculations, material selection, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and design verification.
- Develop and maintain component specifications, validation plans, engineering standards, design guides, and technical documentation.
- Perform and guide Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate structural, thermal, vibration, fatigue, and durability performance of components.
- Develop, validate, and correlate simulation models, leveraging analysis and test data to improve product robustness and reliability.
- Lead verification and validation activities, including component, engine, and field testing, and drive resolution of technical issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, validation, and supplier teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and cost‑effective.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement through innovation, simplification, digital engineering tools, and best engineering practices.
- Manage project execution by tracking quality, cost, schedule, risks, and key deliverables.
- Serve as the technical focal point for assigned components, providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and communicating project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
